So, I cant help but wonder how big the market is for these 23 & 25 ' wake boats. Even if iI could afford a G23, the folks on my river would HATE me! I have to be careful and Courteous where we surf my 196 ! I couldnt imagine the enemies I would make in a G23. Huge lakes and seas I could see. But how many of you guys could use all the boat a G23 offers?

I guess you didn't see that the g23 is 5400 lbs. it won't be lighter, that's for sure.Originally posted by Storm34 View PostCan't remember what the options were but I do know they were going to push everyone to go to the 550in the G25.
I'd guess it's going to be pushing 5k w/o gear, fuel ballast and people.

I had a test ride in the new G23 last week. Initially, we had 15 people on the boat (50/50 male/female) and full ballast. We could not get on plane with the 450hp engine and that much weight. Granted, 15 people on top of the stock 2800 is a lot of weight but I thought we would be able to get there, albeit slowly. After seeing this, I would not consider a G23 with anything less than the 450. I can't believe that the 343hp engine is the base engine. I would like to see that boat get on plane with just the stock ballast and a passenger or two.
With that reference point, I can only imagine a G25 should be equipped with the 550.

I'm on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH, one of the largest lakes in New England. A 23 or 25 ft wake boat woulwd not only be great. It would be ideal. The 2 ft syndrome continues.Originally posted by scott resick View PostSo, I cant help but wonder how big the market is for these 23 & 25 ' wake boats. Scott....I don't think Kmayotte was being a smart a&$....but correct me if I'm wrong. I took his comment to mean, as I have heard for many years...."The 2 foot syndrome" is what every avid boater has....every few years they want to get a new boat....usually only a couple of feet longer. It never ends until you own a 85 foot Hatteras....lol. I didn't see any negativity in the post....but maybe I'm missing it.

Not meant smart *** at all. Kenv had it right. I have a 210 right now, my next boat will be a 23 footer and after that I'm sure I'll have a bunch of kids running amok and will want a 25 footer, 2 ft syndrome. To your point Scott, I ride behind a 25 ft Malibu every now and then, all sacked out with a huuuuge wake. Even on a wide open body of water, early in the morning the fisherman haaaate the wake. One guy called Marine Patrol on us because our wake was swamping them even though we were about 300 ft away. And this is on a lake with the 230 foot M/S Mount WashingtonOriginally posted by scott resick View PostYeah, bad. I took that the wrong way. Sorry Kmayotte.
So I agree with you a 23 or 25 ft wake boat on a river or small lake could be dangerous if you're not courteous of other vessels.

Im just worried these type of wake boats are going to cause some bans on wake size. We will all have to pitch in and dig a big drink to share.

On the smaller boats Im used to, there is little difference in holeshot between the 343 and 409. The 343 may actually have a slight advantage. the 409 shines above 3000-3500 RPM. I would imagine that you could prop either to come out of the hole just fine on a large wakeboat. Where the 6.0L would shine is at higher speeds due to the extended RPM range (5600).Originally posted by lion90 View PostAfter seeing this, I would not consider a G23 with anything less than the 450. Wake up, it already is! Large parts of the Willamette river in Oregon have banned wake enhancing devices. The Holgate channel, about the only watersking spot on the Willamette river, accessible from down town Portland has had all towed water sports banned from it. This was not a problem, until wake surfing got popular.
It would not surprise me to see a point in the not too distant future when the sales of these wide beam wakeboard barges fall off, because there ends up being very few places where they can be used

A small lake near me set a 12mph speed limit a couple of years ago because of complaints. They don't specifically ban "watersports" but it was set to minimize wakes and provide a "quieter lake experience". My kids have agreed that we would probably still cause trouble if I was surfing at 10.5mph and the tower speakers cranked up... so we go further down the road.
