I have a 196. No tower to use that slick cover that draws to a tower. But during a heavy rain, I always drive to the dock with a push broom to get the water off the cover before it sags to the floor. I thought it might be cool to have a piece of plastic formed the fits over the 2 tent pole tips that stick out of the cover, and down over the rub rail. It would allow the water to run off even in a tsunami. Anyone have the resources for this. I think it would be easy to vacuum form something like that. It would only have to span the 2 tent poles.

If it's a sunbrella cover, clean it and treat with a water resistant coating like 303 Fabric Guard. Make sure you tent the cover if you are outdoors. The protectant will let the water bead off.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

So youre using the poles but they alone aren't doing the job of shedding the water? The pole system I have seen is supported by a mesh strap to form a ridge along the center line of the cockpit and the side straps tie to the cleats making a hip roof. Have you seen that set up? The one I am thinking of came with a factory Nautique emblem cover. These poles do not stick up thought the cover, they have flat 5" plastic tops to hold up the cover at their support points.Originally posted by scott resick View PostI thought it might be cool to have a piece of plastic formed the fits over the 2 tent pole tips that stick out t. I have seen those poles, but not sure I know exectly what you mean about the netting. Remember now, I only have this problem in a hard rain. Normal showers run off the cover nicely. But, once that cover starts to droop in the gunnels, its all over. The past few days here we have had severe t-storms

A mooring cover needs to be tented and kept tight if you want it to shed water. Sounds like you have it tented properly with poles. Now you just need to keep it tight. A few bungees on either side will get the job done.1990 Ski Nautique

Oh shes tight alright. I have snaps. When it gets wet however it loosens a bit. The last rain fall was very heavy and actually weighted down the cover enough that the bottom of the front pole slid out, letting the water pole right in front of the motor cover. The cover was stretched over the motor cover. (my forward tent pole does not have a hole in the cover, just reinforcment) Ive tried many things and products over the years and wish someone would make a plastic "lid" that goes from the windsheild to the stern and simply snaps on over the rub rail. Maybe even make it to slide, so that after you snap it on you can slide the front half to the back, and Vise-versa.

If it pools, then its obviously not tight enough. No way around it! Time to make your poles longer or put your snaps further inward (cover side).1990 Ski Nautique

By mesh strap I was referring to the typical black nylon strap material (didn't know for sure if the netting question was in response to my post)Originally posted by scott resick View PostI have seen those poles, but not sure I know exectly what you mean about the netting.
