Unless you have multiple professional caliber drivers, perfect pass is more important than tower, ballast, or just about anything else other than gas. It was the first thing I added to my 2000 SAN.

I would go for perfect pass as well. It wasn't to fun when my original pp went down. I upgraded to the newer version and it is great!

yeah I think i will be going the PP route! I primarily ride on the St clair River delta which drains Lake Huron of the great lakes so the current is very strong.

I will probably be going with the Wakeboard PRO non gps version

I also ride on the St. Clair River around the Algonac MI area down to Lake St. Clair area. The current is a little less strong in this area versus up the the Blue Water Bridge area. I went with Wakeboard Pro non gps version also, as that was what pp recommended for riding in rivers with current. I'm happy with how mine works in the current.

Man! Do you ride on the east side of Walpole Island down Chenal Ecarte and the Johnson Cut?

Where abouts do you live, that's pretty much the only place me and another buddy ride and we are
Always looking for people to come in the boat. He has an xstar as well.

If you are going to use a PerfectPass paddlewheel, I would localize that first and drill the hole for it before drilling any of the other holes for ballast. Then just make sure that your ballast holes do not foul the water flow to the paddle wheel. The folks at perfect pass may be able to tell you where to drill (I think one side or the other of the v-drive), and you can maybe try to look at some boats with the paddlewheel installed.

I actually drilled all of the holes for the ballast already, 4 in total, 2 on each side of the transmission, staggered slightly. I have installed PP before in my older boat so I understand about drilling in a proper location. I have an idea where I would put the paddle wheel but I am going to call PP before I do so to get their input.

                Thanks

Unless you ride on a river, avoid the issue and go with the GPS unit. You can go Stargazer or just the add-on unit that replaced the paddlewheel from http://www.nauticlaugic.com/nl4-pp.html. I used the nauticlaugic unit and it works great.

Lake huron as a sheet of glass is unreal! I have only ever had 3 good days out there though! Wind is always out of the North!
