Connect fatsac to belly ballast tank

    Hello,
This winter i am looking to connect my integrated fly high bow sac to the belly ballast tank.

I have an 2008 210 which is currently in storage. Does anybody now what size tubing comes from the belly ballast tank and what size connecters and
hose i need to connect the sac to the tank ?

This is the fat sac i want to connect:

    http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/w711

Are these the connectors i need ?

    Any tips are very welcome.

I have an 08 210 with the bow sac and I integrated it this past season. The hose it 1" so the connectors you need would be the 1" ones. The other option you could do is using the quick connect connectors from fly high. They make it real easy to take the bag out for cleaning or to let the carpet dry. That's the biggest issue I have with this setup is when water gets in the boat in the bow it either sits on top of the bag and turns slimy or gets under the bag on the carpet and it never dries. Not to talk you out of doing it but I am seriously considering replacing my int. bow sac with the arrow sac for the ski locker. Regain some storage in the bow and keep things a little cleaner.

As far as the connections, I put a 1" T connector on the hard tank vent and then ran hose to both arm holes of the bow bag. Then I put a new vent line on the hole top front and ran it to the through hull. Let me know if you have any other questions or want pictures.

My plan is to do the same setup as you suggest. If you could post or email some pictures that would be great. I am just a little worried about the vent line runing from the top front of the bag to the vent out of the boat. Did you just run that on top of the bag against the bottom of the bow/seats ?

I just added a bow sac in my 210.

You're going to want this quick connect bag fitting (assuming 1" lines):

        http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/W743

        with this quick connect elbow:

        http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/W746

At first I wanted to piggy back the bow sac with my belly tank like you're suggesting to save on cost but the guys at Wakemakers advised against it. They said it would be painfully slow to fill both ballast with one pump so I plumbed a dedicated pump to the bow sac. Food for thought because I already feel like the belly tank could fill faster.

Another source for sacs and pumps or also kits that include fittings, hoses, clamps that are all set up for your specific project. http://www.wakemakers.com/

I did a surf set up with a piggy back sac in the center locker (and forward) off of the center tank. The job was easier than I expected. They also helped me plan out and a way to piggy back off of the port tank to a 370 tube sac under the passengers side bench seat (fwiw that hose needs an anti siphon loop or valve becasue that gab ends up being hiigher than the port thru-hull).

I have to apologize, I didn't see your response asking for pictures until just now and unfortunately I just took everything out of the boat for the winter this morning, including all the fat sac's. As far at the vent line, that is a downfall of this setup. It does push up on the bow cushions from underneath but only the forward one. If you can visualize with the point of the bow as 12 o'clock. I rout the vent line from the hole in the top of the bag to 3 o'clock. And then along the side of the bag up to where the vent opening is. Hope this helps. Sorry I can't get pictures right now.

No problem ! My boat in storage also at the moment, so i have plenty of time to figure this out :-) One more question, did you use the straight quick connects for the legs of the fatsack. And only for the front one (to the vent line) did you use the elbow version ? And roughly how much meter of hose would i need ?

Use the elbows on all of them.

I ditto that, seems like the elbow versions of the quick connects hold better than the straights. As far at hose lengths, the vent line should be a little under a meter and a half. The fill about the same but you can split it where ever is best to put the "T" in. I'll work on trying to get you some pics in the next month or so. I live in north florida so the weather is not horrible and the boat is in the backyard. Shouldn't take me long to put the stuff in there to get you some pics. Also, if you haven't purchased your stuff for the project yet, wakemakers.com is having a sale for black friday. I think it's only 10% off, but usually ballast is never on sale so a little is something.

Any pics would be great ! thnx. Have not purchased anything yet, but US online site charges quite steep shipping prices. Mainly because the only the more expensive possibilities listed. The quick connects are not that expensive, but the shipping more than doubles the total costs.

So, the arrow goes under the storage? and the integrated goes in the storage area?

                        J-royal,

Correct. The tail of the arrow sac goes in the ski locker area (fills the center of the U shaped belly tank) and then the arrow part of the sac goes in front of the belly tank filling up the front of the hull under the storage area. The Integrated Bow sac just lays under the front seats and fills maybe 2/3 of the way (at best) full on a 210. Might fill more on a 230 or other Nautique model. From what I've heard, the arrow sac is awesome, just really expensive. You could also go tube sac in the ski locker and then plumb up to an integrated sac (that's what I've done)....cheaper to do that than getting an arrow sac and about the same weight, just more plumbing but its not very difficult.

                        Andrew

Thanks Andrew. Yea, that arrow is kind of pricey for what it is. But would be nice to not have to give up my storage. Do you every just fill up the stock tanks (pressing the button and letting the timer run out) and not filling the overflow sacs? My son needs the weight but the rest of the family doesn't. Looking for a solution to make us all happy.

J-Royal, agreed on the arrow sac being pricey. Aside from not having to give up storage, I've heard its a good sac too because it keeps the weight lower in the boat which helps with handling. Yes, I honestly hardly ever ride with anything other than Factory Ballast...at my current level (Tantrum, Backroll, learning Toeside W2W), Factory Ballast is plenty big enough for me. One cycle on the pumps will fill the factory tanks and put about 50lbs in the Fly High Sacs (without them plumbed in, it just pumps out the side for about 30-60 seconds before shutting off due to the timer). I just watch the gauges and when they say full, turn off the pumps so I'm just full on Factory Ballast. Two cycles on the pumps will fill the Factory Tanks and the Fly High Sacs, with about 30 seconds of overflow pumping out the side. Unless your son is really good and looking to go huge, factory ballast on our boats is plenty big (I use my Fly High system predominantly for surfing).
