You guys are too much. Its a mistake it shouldn't have happened but it did. Has CC refused to repair it? Nobody got hurt nothing was in danger get it fixed and move on. Do you think if you buy a new Escalade and the windshield leaks they will give you a new one or come to your house to repair it? If you dont have a CC dealer close by I am sure there is a qualified local repair shop that can apply caulk. Stop already with all this nonsense.

I'm happy to see that some of you get what I'm trying to say and yet some of you are way out in left field. I DON'T WANT A NEW BOAT!! I just wanted to see if other Nautique customers are have the same issues as me. I have posted another picture of an issue that Nautique said they would fix but elected to repair it my self after dealing with my local Nautique dealer. Long story and will not bash them on this forum.
The issue in the picture was found while replacing the heater blower hose behind the drivers seat. The factory drilled right though the wire harness, as you can see two wires were affected. I spoke to the factory directly about this and their comment was "We're sorry for the problems you are having with your boat, take it to your dealer and they will fix it". I then asked if it was common practice to drill holes over a wire harness. They replied with "All holes are drilled BEFORE the wire harness are installed". I kindly told them not this one. and e-mailed them a picture of it. I don't really want to bash anyone here, but I do hope that someone from the factory reads these forums and maybe talks about them in a meeting or two.
I just happened to find this by chance and it make me wonder what else could be under cover that I will never see.
Again I hope the Q.C. dept. will keep a brighter eye on things.
In the end I really do like my new boat and hope I will have it for years to come.

Wanna talk about seeing ghosts (a contract/legal axiom) and credible scenarios.
I'm thinking if the boat sank at the ramp or in shallow water on the first outing, insurance might not even pay for a replacement. I suspect they'd try to "fix it".

It basically sounds like you have a really bad lemon! But it is very fixable with caulking. Its not even noticeable under the rub rail, but you are right. It is unacceptable! But they cant catch everything unfortunately :-( . But i have seen many more and worse stories from other forums for other boats, such as MasterCrap and ect...
Not to start anything, but how much weight was in the boat? Is the rail really close to the water? Cause you are not on plane till about 20+mph1998 Ski Nautique Open Bow

I'm sorry you are having these problems too. I'm also sorry you decided to air it on the forum instead of allowing it to be taken care of by the manufacturers warranty. You are right it shouldn't have left the factory that way. I worked in the automotive industry for 20 years you wouldn't believe what gets out of the factory. These are small problems easily fixed without any down time Don't make it more than what it is. CC's are built by people and people make mistakes Ill bet these issues have already been addressed at the factory. You have the best warranty in the business let them fix it and enjoy the best boat in the business.

What year is this boat? How long have you owned it? How do you know the factory did this drilling?
If you are complaining about a boat that is ~3 years old having a few $25 problems than perhaps boat ownership may not be the best fit for you?
Ive been to the plant a handful of times and I know plenty of people that work there. CC does everything they can to ensure the best quality is put into all of their boats. Mistakes are made in EVERY walk of life. They didnt take away your birthday, they just left some caulk out.
It appears you are in the customer service business correct? Dont you just HATE customers that dont understand when you make a mistake and they kick and scream at you just because they think they can? I know I do.
Take it to the dealer and quit wasting time calling CC and posting nonsense threads about "getting to be an unhappy CC owner". If I am correct you are talking about an 08 boat that has 18 hours on it. Doing the math; that boat is getting about 1 minute per day of water time. If the dealer has it for 3 days then you've only lost about 3 minutes. If your sore about having to take it to the dealer than, like I said, maybe boat ownership is not the right fit.....I heard ant farming is fun and inexpensive

Hi, first post here. I need to add to the disappointment with the little "nuisances". Nothing major, but also things I would not have expected from a company that claims a superior quality. My issues: port and starboard ballast gauges don't work (belly does), rubber ring coming off the navigation light, seams on one seat are opening, rubber mats on platform are peeling off, one small puncture hole in one seat.
The dealer has been good, but this it's a pain to have several people come over (or drive over there) to fix the boat. Especially considering most, if not all, of these items could have been caught at QC, before the boat left the factory...

I had a similar problem with an 01' SAN, which water only trickled in - never worried about fixing it, and in an 05' SAN. The 05 was worse and during turns water would literally 'shoot' inside the boat (kinda freaked out guests). I had the dealer take care of it - don't think I was charged for it. Both those boats were less $$ than newer SAN's, but I still felt they were 'handled appropriately' after notification. However, it says to me that maybe there is a problem in this area that they should try to pay more attention to. If I spent (or committed to a bank to spend) 60k plus for a boat, and this problem surfaced in the first several years, let alone right away, I would expect that after a polite phone call to the dealer, that someone should come to my place when possible - to fix it. (And maybe a free T-shirt) lol.

I'd be upset, but CC is great as resolving issues. Heck, you can even call the factory and get helpful people to speak with you. Sometimes it'll even be Mr. Yeargin.'08 196LE (previous)

I've heard complaints from a few people. I noticed a bunch of problems after riding all weekend on a friends 3 year old 500 hour 230. He said he loved the boat but would probably go back to MC based on his experience and list of mostly small issues compared to his prior boat.

Yep, perfection is just an illusion. It's more about what will be missed and what will be the consequences. Regarding my minor issues, I was just wondering if this how it normally works. It's the first boat we buy, so I really don't have a comparison to determine whether my experience was on par with other Nautique owners (or other brands) or better/worse. Compared to buying some other high-end (European) cars, I generally had fewer minor issues, but don't know if this translates to boats too...

Can't speak for CC since we bought a 15 year old 196 based on its quality construction and skiablility. But we did buy a brand new 1999 Four Winns IO and the first season the fuel pump went out, had to swim it back to shore. Dealer replaced the pump and had no other issues for 8 seasons other than speedo flaking in and out, until the power steering pump went out and were told the engine needed to be pulled to get to it and would cost 1200. We sold it as is informing the new buyer and he said the engine just needs to be lifted an inch or two, he could do it no problem. He got a great boat, but these two issues were mechanical, not leaking water into storage compartments while underway, that is unacceptable. CC needs to know about this and take steps to resolve and post their changes on their website.1995 SN 196(Sold)
