i hear you on the power turns. there was a brand new malibu wakesetter by the Lake Conroe dam this past saturday doing power turns like a maniac. chalked it up to him being a weekend wally. wish he would learn better though.

Where do people get the idea that they should power turn? How about from Boating World (June 2011 review of a Malibu 247):
"...we were able to generate some serious G's when doing a 180 to simulate a rider down."Previous boats:

^ Now that is both inexcusable and pathetic that a boating publication would make such a statement. Considering that not only will it annoy the crap out of everyone else, you can totally swamp (or even sink) your own boat that way.
That said, I will admit that when I had my inboard closed bow Tige ski boat I did do a few stop on a dime 180s the first year I had it, but that was with no ballast and when no one else was around to annoy (except myself and my observer when I did not no do it perfectly and took some water over the windshield). A little different than a power turn, but still not the wisest thing in the world to do.Now

But wait, don't you want to generate serious Gs when your are doing a 180 to pick up a downed rider? Then you might be able to double or triple the fun by having your passengers thrown into the water thanks to that super cool maneuver.
The writer of that article needs to be pimp slapped... repeatedly. Now
