Where did you find reasonable covered storage in the Bay Area?

Not sure what you call reasonable? Orwood at $220/month is where mine is. Not cheap but it makes sense for me at the moment. I'll probably pull it once the rains pass or just enjoy the convenience and pre-paid launches.

Check out www.storeinside.com. Up to 24' is ~$200/month. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They've stored my 210 for two years. Great building, stellar security, professional family owned and operated service, timely valet service for pickup/drop-off, detailing service available on-site, and conveniently located (at least for me). Check them out....Originally posted by sfjakey View PostWhere did you find reasonable covered storage in the Bay Area?2003 SANTE

Looks like you may have already found a cover, but if not let me know. I have bought a Rankin for my 211 a couple of years ago because I thought I would be towing a lot. It turns out that I don't really tow any more and haven't used the cover in at least a year. It's a great cover and looks good on the boat - I just don't need it any more. Let me know if you're interested.2007 Air Nautique 211

It seems as though you've never seen a trailerable cover (Rankin/Coversports) in person. Extremely tight fitting. They dont buffet at highway speeds- so the cover isnt harmed and neither is your gelcoat. Its really nice to have if you have to tow in ugly weather. I used mine on a 1200 mile trip and it was happy to have it.Originally posted by sfjakey View PostI will never tow with the cover on. It seems ridiculous to me. Why cover the boat for the 2 hour ride, then use it in the sun on the lake uncovered all day? Destroys the cover and possibly the boat. I am looking for a cover that will keep the boat dry in rain storms, and not sweat or leak like the sharkskin does when the fog /dew forms. Right now I have to uncover the boat EVERY day to prevent mildew. I will also leave the boat on a lift in the summer, so the cover has to be able to withstand some wind as well. Skiboatcovers seems interesting, any other ideas?
That being said, it sounds like you just need a mooring cover.
Ive had Westland, Carver, Rankin and Angola covers. Ive had cotten/canvas, polyester and sunbrella. Nothing beats the sunbrella in terms of durability and breathability. The Rankin was a great towable cover, but a pain to put on. The Westland and Carvers fit ok, but not great- even for a mooring cover. The Angola is much better fitting. I would expect Skiboatcovers to fit closer to the Angola. Theyre a step better than the Westland/Carvers, IMHO. Theyre worth the extra $100-200.1990 Ski Nautique

Different boats, but I can get my coversports cover on in a matter of minutes---much more quickly than my old cover.Originally posted by swc5150 View PostTR's correct. A Coversports/Rankin is not as easy to put on as a simple throw cover. I won't use my Coversports when the boat is sitting on the lift, under a canopy either. It's reserved for towing, or when a storm is coming in, and I want to keep the boat wrapped tight. Yikes, now we have you buying 2 covers!

I should've mentioned that as well. A Coversports cover doesn't take that much longer to put on than a dust cover. Maybe it takes an extra minute or two, at least on a 196.'08 196LE (previous)

Agreed, but also depends how you are using the CoverSports cover. If I'm going to tow with mine on, it takes 5 or so additional minutes to secure. If I'm just putting the boat back in storage, no difference, just throw it on and lightly secure a couple of the transom straps.Originally posted by swc5150 View PostI should've mentioned that as well. Obviously you and ETS have never tried to put a Rankin/Coversports on a boat kept on a lift. Much more time consuming than putting it on when the boat is on the trailer. Compared to putting on a dust cover, its a 10-15 min ordeal instead of a 2 minute one... when youre fighting mosquitos at dusk or an approaching thunderstorm, those 10 minutes are HUGE!Originally posted by swc5150 View PostI should've mentioned that as well.
