It's a boat...so yeah, you're going to have to fix something sooner or later! This place is a great resource for that when the time comes. Odds are good that one of us has seen the issues that come up.

pull the hose AFTER the sea strainer...stick the house hose in and clamp it down...crank the faucet fully open. Unless you have horrid water pressure at the house, that boat at idle (mine is @400rpm) won't starve for water.

Not such a good Idea as you can blow the seal out of the raw water pump with household water presure. The bucket system is much prefered as you can also find out how healthy the raw water pump and cooling system is.

The resources that the awesome members of this forum and CCfan.com provide were a major factor in me deciding to go with a Nautique. Malibu, Mastercraft, and Tige all have fan forums, but in my opinion, none of them are as good as either of the nautique forums.

The litte o-ring on the case of the impellar??? Not buying that unless the case is not torqued properly. Your results may vary I guess....but in 7 years I have never had the problem.

I have pressurized the input hose to the raw water pump, looking for leaks. In my experience, the water pressure just blows by the vanes on the impeller, and goes into the engine anyway.
Having said that, you still need to make sure the raw water pump can actually create a vacuum, and suck the lake water in to the pump.
