    1984 Ski Nautique 2001 questions

How is the wake on the 1984 SN 2001 for slalom skiing? I ski at 30mph and 15'off. I won't be going 22' or 28' off anytime soon. Also, does anyone know the horsepower rating for the 351w for '84? Also, are all of the '84s 1:1 transmissions? I'm looking at one that has the engine locked up. Not a big deal for me. Going through the engine won't be a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Drew... I owned an 84 SN2001 for eighteen years. It is a great boat. The wake at 30mph, 15 off is large but doable if you bend your knees and keep the ski on edge. Trick skiers and wakeboarders love the boat cause the wake is shaped well for getting air. The horsepower rating is 240. My transmission was a 1:1 Velvet drive, I am not sure if anything else was ever put in that particular year. I am reluctant to send you somewhere else but the guys over at correctcraftfan.com are extremely knowledgable about the older boats. Make sure before you get it you check the condition of the wood stringers.

Bubba is spot on. 1:1 tranny, 240 hp, and a bit hard of a wake for slalom only. Not to say you can't slalom behind one, but there are better slalom boats out there.

Yes, absolutely check for weak spots in the floor. Stringer rot is a pretty common issue with these boats. It's probably serviceable as the hull is, but you may want to look into re stringering and re flooring the boat if there is any rot.
