I new to the inboard boat world and Im looking at purchasing a nautique Super Air 210 . One has 600 hrs its a 2000 and has the python motor team edition etc asking 23,000. Another one one is a 2002 with 500 hrs for 24,000 these are around my price range , im not looking to spend too much, but I need some direction.
    Thanks

The Python is a very rare and very desirable option. Assuming that one is in good shape, I would think really hard about getting it, especially at that price. That sounds like a good deal.

5 or 600 is peanuts for a motor. Many people have well over 1000 and a few have in the 2000 range on theirs. The reason not more have 2000 is people dont use them that much or they upgrade. They are very capable of going well into the four figure range for hours without blinking.

The 2000 cannot be a Team Edition. They didn't make a team addition in 2000.

Some are big fans of the python motor, some are not. I'm in the not category. Nothing wrong with the motor, just not for me.

1 thing I do not like about the 2000 models is that they have the big single piece hatch.
For the right price I could live with it. But, all things being equal, I prefer the 3 piece hatches on
the 2001 and later model years.

$23k is a good number on a snake boat. 600 hours is nothing to sweat.

Not taking the engine into consideration, the 2002 will have a more spacious interior than the 2000. In 2002 Correct Craft narrowed the gunnels and dropped the floor making the interior more spacious than the 2001 and earlier models.

The three piece rear hatch on the 2002 (as BKH pointed out) is a huge difference in contrast to the 2000.

It's my understanding the big block is largely unmuffled (ie., LOUD). If you're a motor guy I'd say give consideration to the 2000. If you're not, the 2002 probably offers more if both boats are in similar condition.

I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever you choose!

True. No room for mufflers with that beast under the lid.

But also unique to the big block is it has duals out the transom!

Thanks guys I appreciate all the help. I ended up finding a 2000 Air with 151 hrs still looking brand new for a cheaper price and closer to home. even though its not a newer V drive I think it will do the job

Nice, the GT40 is a great engine, tons of torque and the run forever if you take care of it. Read the posts on oil with zddp - your engine needs the zinc additives and many modern oils don't have it - search and you will find a plethura of threads on this topic.

i would try to go with a newer boat. you can put all the weight in the world in a boat and w/ the right prop still get up just as easily as with a python. it is cool though.

watch out for the old digital gauges

I know people say it on here all the time but you are looking at a boat that is 10 years old and only shows 150 or so hours sounds fishy to me. Those digital gauges were notorious for resetting themselves to 0 at random times. My 2000 model did that and after that you may not be able to verify true hours unless the seller is honest. Why would someone keep a boat that long that was only using it 15 hours per year. I know I wouldn't Most people I know boat that much in 3 weeks. If the gauges were replaced telex usually sent out grey in later years so if the dash has all black bezels and the tach is grey it is a sure sign the gauge has been swapped. On the GT 40 hour cannot be checked by the computer. Sometimes hours are stored in the perfect pass too. On the 2000 I had that was not the case. Another thing to consider is a boat with that low of hours was it used enough? Are the engine seals and parts that lubricate with oil still in good shape. When something sits like that it usually isn't good for it? my .02$ Good luck with you search I loved my 2000 SAN
