    Really...how so?
I lost $8k on my '08 and that does not include expenses during the year, the loan, insurance, etc. Now having to find and extra $10k to get the 200. That's not my idea of making money. If we were making money, there would be people lined up to do this. Right now, there will only be 3 200's on the east coast states.

Of course, the 200 is selling like crazy, just not in the program yet. Everyone beating up promo guys on price is taking a serious toll.

My pre-sale fell through so if anyone's interested.....

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: SN 200 pricing

Like I posted before... the promo guy listing/pre selling (on Ski it again) his Promo Std 200 for 50K or more will make a little money over what he paid for the boat at promo price. If he does sell it good for him! Then he can cover expenses and move into a 2011. Problem is its killing the retail market for the dealers who make a living on these boats and does not allow them to make a profit.

CC weeded out alot of the problem, under performing promo people (I heard they got rid of at least half of them) a few years ago for doing exactly what happen for the last 2-3 years...ruining the market for resale for both the promo and the dealer net work and not representing the product well.

If you can count the number of boats sold in this market segment year to date, and you fairly tightly protect dealer territories, and you know where each promo boat is used, it should not take someone very bright to get a good idea on about how many sales occur because of a promo person.
It would not surprise me if one of the details a dealer has to keep track of, and even the factory keeps track of is the answer to the question "How did you hear about Correct Craft?"
If then a promo person cannot justify himself, or herself getting a promo boat at a reduced price, I could see Correct Craft making it more difficult for that person to continue the program.

How is the promo guy selling his used boat with a 100, 200, or more hours on it "killing the retail market?" I thought in most cases there was only about a 10% difference between what one could buy the same new boat for, and what the promo boat could be bought for. Is this incorrect?

I agree, Cotton. These promo boats are not getting sold below market value for a 1 or 2 year old boat with 100-200 hours. Plus, it's not like it's a ton of boats every year. At it's hayday, the CC promo program had 65 boats. Now, it's fewer then 30.

Yep, lot's of misinformation in here. Why would I possibly want to sell my boat below market value?? That's a good one! :???:

There is much more than just a promo guy referring boat prospects to dealers (which I do). That's like saying dropping all TV adds because you didn't get any sales from one commercial. It's part of an overall marketing plan. If there were no promo boats, what exposure would skiers have to new boats?

As a promo rep, I am required to take my boat to a certain number of tournaments. As I understand it, there were reps that would never take their boat out of their own lake. They'd just have x number of tournaments in their own lake. This reduces exposure.

I have been with the program for 10 years and have not seen any weeding out of under performers. Team was the same and grew a bit in my time. The last year has taken a toll but that is not the reason for that.

That's why I asked about underperformance - I figured there were technicalities like that being exploited. As a non-promo guy, I thought the requirement was to take it to X tournaments, but that's all I know. And it's not much.
