Maybe they can sell a "base"boat to a promo guy for the same price as a Mastercraft with all the bells and whistles, but that doesn't work on the general public.
Not tring to be the devils advocate here and I'm not pretending to know more about the boat industry than the people in Orlando,so don't get me wrong. However,as a consumer looking in,I respectfully disagree about them seeming to know what they're doing. I think the marketing behind this particular boat has been sketchy at best . One would also have to assume that the bulk of their profits come from the recreational market, and those will be the folks whose decision may be based solely on price. I don't know many(if anyone) in my area right now willing to pay 55 grand for a loaded wakeboat, never mind a base ski boat.
BTW, the one I saw was more like mid-high 60's, than mid 50's. It had a tower, but not a 409.
here are a few more pics of the hull:

IMHO, the way our country is going, and will be for some time to come, unless GOD intervenes, there could've been no "right" time to launch the new 200. R&D had spent a looong time getting it to fruition, so now seems just as good as later. The price, OUCH, no doubt.

My price on an SE with ZO , standard stereo, and bimini was well below 50k. 1k more for the team edition including the Linc system. As I stated before, parts are a bear to get, presales are good, we'll just have to see what happens for the regular joe once all the pieces fall into place.

In my industry, residential construction, there's 5 year's worth of inventory to be sold off before any new building up tick takes place. And EVERYTHING is tied one way or another to the housing market.

        Regards to ALL!!

The who cares comment was directed to the question of how much gas it burns, not top speed etc.

And you will not likely see 3400 rpm/34 mph unless you get a direct drive. I dunno what the top RPM is for PCM, but my Indmar is running right around 5000 rpm.

IVN01 - what happened to the hull in that first pic? Looks like the glass is rippled?

              My 07 SN w/ 1.23:1 shows 3425 at 34mph. The Malibu RLXI on site w/ 1:1 shows 3390 at 34mph - not a significant difference.

On my 206, from low 30's up....the speed matches the first two digets of the rpm number e.g. 3300 rpm = 33 mph; 4400 rpm = 44 mph.

                  Oldslalomskier,

I'm not sure what happened, but my guess would be that it's damage from loading it on the trailer. It's hard to see in those pics, but the boat had quite a few scrapes and nicks on the bottom/sides of the bow that were inline with the bunks. I took the pic that Behindpropellers posted a few pages back and if you look at it you can see visible marks in that relief area as well. Looks like in the right situation, that relief in the front would hit the end of the bunk while loading/unloading.
One of the guys who was involved in the design of this hull told us they went thru great pains to make sure the open and closed bow versions weighed the same and skied exactly the same, which I thought was an interesting selling point.

So most all of the promo guys would buy open bows as is the case with MC and Bu.

Actually, most of the promo guys are opting out! I personally know 5 who will not remain in the program. It's going to be an interesting couple of years in the promo/tournament scene.

Yep, I only know of one other than mine on the east coast. And he is one of the regional reps. I don't think there will be one from SC to Maine (other than mine).

I suspect MC and Bu are in similar situations.

well, at least if the promo/tournament scene unravels, they can still focus on the pontoon boat market. Oops, did I just say that

Arab oil embargo, Green movement, Recession, ... hang around the promo/tournament scene long enough (hence my moniker "old" slalomskier ) and you will see ups and downs in boat sales and tournament participation. But here we still are. So rest assured, there will always be promo boats and slalom skiers and tournaments.

I think there will be at least two promo 200's in Ohio this year.
