Good or bad idea to post recalls/updates on the website? Maybe an article on the 4 changes? I also heard that people would like to know what hull was under what year boat. Any other ideas? I don't want to suck you into anything or waste your time. Just looking for ideas!

changes aren't a good thing?
I can't see why CC would have issue with posts describing the changes in the boats from year to year. They are in the business to sell new boats...the changes are supposed to make the new boats a better, more refined solution than the prior model.
If I were an owner of a Nautique and a better product was introduced, might spur me on to consider buying a new boat.

Personally, I'd love to see that information posted to the web site. I am not saying that we should go against CC's wishes, but it sure would be convienient to have that information available without going through our dealers.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.
If we can be of service to you, please contact us anytime!

I'll do some digging Frost. I keep in close contact with my local dealer. I happen to be one of "those" people who want to be educated before I go to the dealer. I'd read up on it anyway even if I went to the dealer first.
I've been to the dealer 3 times in the last month to test drive the 206 and 216. The knowledge I've gained from this site (as well as the Nautique site) allowed me to asked educated questions...often one's that he never thougt of and needed to call CC to get clarification.
BTW - the 216 is the boat for us...wish it had a bit smaller slalom wake, but I understand there's a give and take with the added size. I hope to order one in the coming months.

Edwin, I think that when Frost said that he wasn't sure if we should show changes on here, he was referring to the recalls/update bulletins. Talking about the changes on the 04 boats versus 03 is not a problem but Frost can't talk about 05 changes because he would tick off every nautique dealer. Between Frost and other visitors, we can answer your questions

Two questions I can't seem to get a straight answer:
1) The 04 info shows that the 216 has lost 230 lbs going from 03 to 04. Since the boat has very few changes, which weight is correct? My dealer tends to think the 03 weight is correct but can't confirm it.
2) I've read somewhere (can't locate it at the moment) that the 04's actually had a price drop given the deletion of the bow modules and a stripe in the gelcoat. However, my dealer says prices went up 3%. Any idea who's correct?
More questions to come as I think of them...

The only thing that I can guess on the weight issue is the changing of the ballast system. I know that you are not looking at ballast but the sport and air are the same mold so possibly they changed something there in the construction process
As far as price goes, they really haven't changed. The 2003 boats have some rebates going on them right now to make room for 04. Other than that I am not aware of other changes.
Hope this helps
Just out of curiosity, why is the weight difference an issue to you?

One of the issues I have with my Malibu Sunsetter LXi is that the hole shot could be better. I mainly ski and I'm trying to find the most hard core tournament performance qualities in a larger boat. If the wieght of the 216 has dropped by 200+ pounds, it's nothing but a good thing for me. I checked with the dealer and he guessed it was just a misprint. Given the knowledge of some of the members here, just wondered if someone hand an idea of the reasoning behind the inconsistency.

Edwin
The ballast tanks in the 216 did change, we made them so there is much more storage area in the trunk. As for the weight loss I know it's not 200 lbs but I can't remember what the correct weight change is. The old tanks were 320 lbs I "think" the new ones are a total of 240 lbs but again I could be wrong.
I will check it out and give you the correct weight after work on Friday.

Edwin,
Don't worry about the hole shot. Between the 1:23 : 1 trans and the new dual tapered shafts, you will have more than enough power!
