Wake Surfer- Inland Surfer's Red Woody or Hyperlite Landlock

The Red board is like standing on a bar of soap the first time you ride it but once you get your feet in the correct place it is a great board. It has more push than any board I have ridden. It is also great for larger people and small wakes.

I have flight clips and it fits in my board racks.

Another advantage of the old Landlock is that it fits in board racks.

i bought a wakesurf for my husband for Christmas that doesn't fit in the racks. it was SUCH a bummer! but i heard that the racks on that new tower (the all one piece that i can't recall the name) are wide enough to accomodate a thicker board. too bad i'm not interested in spending multiple multiple thousands on a new tower just to fit in his wakesurf. :mrgreen:

I have a 2006 Inland Blue lake and love it. I think it's the best all around board for beginners to advance riders. If you only have one board this is the one. I've ridden the Red Tide and it's a great board, easy to ride, but a bit sluggish once you get better.

I've ridden 15+ boards and taught 10+ people how to ride from 100lb girls to 250lb guys and always start them on good 'ol blue.

My boat is a 95 SS and we surf with the rubrail in the water. If you have a smaller wake and are 215+ I would get the Red.

We have a 2000 Air (216 - DD), so we can only get so much of a surf wake before we are on the verge of sinking the boat. I am about 190 lbs., and I bought a TWP Limited, 4.5'. I think it is too small for me - I have only been able to drop the rope once, when we had about 8 people in the boat (we usually only have 4, including 2 kids). Otherwise, I just can't stay in the pocket.

So now I am looking at the Red Woody & the Blue Lake. The big company boards (CWB, HL, LF) are a lot cheaper, but everyone says we will outgrow them quickly. I think my TWP may still be good for my wife & kids, but I'm pretty sure I need a longer board.

Feedback anyone?

I would tend to agree that you would have an easier time on a bigger board. I pointed out earlier in this thread the Phase5 Oogle. At 4'10", it is long enough that bigger people can ride it, but still be a lot of fun later in your learning progression. You can switch fins to accomdate an improving riding skill set. The first 360's we ever got done were on this board. I weigh about the same and I ride smaller boards, but have a ridiculous surf wake. I still like to get out on the Oogle a few times a year. I am not sure what outgrowing the bigger name boards means. I also think that if you would find a LF Custom 4.10 to be a fantastic intermediate board. The 4.3 version is a wicked board, but I heard that they stopped making them for the 4.6.

Phase 5 boards are cool in that no two are alike. All unique artwork/paintjobs.


Upon further review, www.waterskis.com says the have a LF Custom 4.2. Hmmm

WSlayer, thanks for the feedback. The "outgrowing" statement was just a reflection of comments I've seen some people make, that those boards are great for learning & cruising, but not as good for more advanced tricks. I've always thought of the Phase 5 boards being a bit more advanced than CWB or LF (and this shows on the price). I will definitely take a look at the boards you suggested, but if I'm going to lay down the $$$ for a new board, I'm thinking I should find something that's at least 5'.

It looks like the IS Boards would be really tight in the wakeboard racks, if they fit at all.

Out of curiosity, where are you guys storing your boards on the boat?

Anyone know anything about the CWB Ride?

Looks like it would fit in the racks on my tower.

People are saying it is a good general cruiser board for the boat that anyone can use.

I talked to the main guy over at IS and he told me nothing changed between 08 and 09. I just ordered the 08 because that's a helluva price for that board!

I have been using an Inland Surfer Black Loogey (Limited Edition Yellow) for the last 2 years. I tried the Blue Lakes but it was really sluggish when trying to slash hard, or ollie out. I bought the Liquid Force Custom 4'10. I couldn't get into it, so I sold it a few weeks ago after trying to ride is maybe 6 times. Every time I rode it I found my front foot hanging over the EVA pad onto the board. My buddy got the new Ronix Koal in a 5'0 and I instantly fell in love, I went and bought my own. I am 6'3" 220lbs and I can do a 360 without the handle on the Koal. I never thought that was possible at my size. I highly recommend Ronix's new Koal. I haven't tried the other 2 sizes, the 5'0 is the medium size. I like the Koal best with only 2 fins, I remove the middle one and it is super quick to slash, spin, or ollie, and it falls right back into a notch when it needs to. My 110lb girlfriend enjoys it also. I had 2 first time surfers use it this weekend. They both dropped the handle within the first 15 minutes of surfing, and they can barely clear the wake wakeboarding, so it's not like they are prodigies or anything. I was embarassed, I think I surfed 5 times before I could drop the rope on my Loogey.
