    BOAT COVER WEIGHTS

I am getting two big spots buffed out on the 211 from the wind whipping the cover against the boat. My dealer mentioned a place here that makes 2lb canvas weights to hang on the cover loops. Probably expensive.
Does anyone have a good method? Bungees are a pain on my lift.

The local gun shops sell 25lb bags of lead shot for relaoding. http://www.ballisticproducts.com/pro...L08&variation= Fill socks with the shot or have someone make little bags and tie them to the cover.

Use a milk carton. Put water in them. You might have one or two in your recycling container right now.

anything with a handle to tie to. Also, I've seen where you can buy special caps for 2 liter bottles, don't know how well they work, though.

you can get small sand bags at a gun supply store, they are used on bench rests to support the rifles

Why buy something you can make with stuff readily available and at no cost?

Ok...Cheap and easy. Go to your local dive shop and buy the 5Lb soft weights. They generally already have a loop to use one of those small carabiners.

maybe i'm confused, but why not just run a string through the loops, pull it tight, and tie it off?

The cover stretches and shrinks as it dries out and gets wet. it will either sag, or rip if it is tied tight

Andrew suggests running string thru the loops, could you replace the string with shock cord (bungee) or even just a small section to allow for expansion?

Man, you guys are good. All great ideas. I have used bungee chords. The stern portion of the cover got twisted slightly and about 3 days of 20-30 mph winds whipped a small portion of the cover against the boat. It really scratched the gelcoat hard...$350 to have it buffed out. Thanks again!
