    FC Tower Re-Paint

Has anyone repainted their FC Tower? We pulled ours from our boat and want to have it re-painted. Any reccomendations how to go about doing this and what kind of paint to use? We'd want to paint it black again.

Tried doing a search on paint and tower didnt pull up anything to answer my questions.

    Thanks for any replies.

No question, you will want to have it powder-coated. That is how the factory does it and is about the only thing that will hold up in the elements that your tower will be in. I had my tower painted before I put it on my boat and took it somewhere to be powder-coated. Think it cost a couple hundred bucks, but not exactly sure.

another to powder coat, also... don't powder coat the hinges, or where the ball is. The paint will get worn off there and look like crap

        For example:

            Hornsfan,

Both options are good and bad. What is the current finish on your tower? If it is powder coated you will need the old powder coat removed before the new powder coat can be applied. Just like anything the more you spend the better the results (most times), I have paid upwards of $700 for powder coat and it looked as deep and lusterous (word?) as paint. Also have spent less and it had the texture of an orange. The new FCT3 tower is painted and we have painted a handful of towers at the shop. The only downside of paint is it obviously scratches a little easier than powder coat, but you will only need to scuff prep the tower and have it sealed and shot. If you go the way of paint use an IMRON paint, it is a harder paint and will resist damage a little more. Hope this helps.

                  Thanks for the reply back.

This is my first time owning a boat, and I did the research people kept saying "Nautique, Nautique." So I found one in my price range, now I've got the **** bug and looking to upgrade everything , and mod everything...some things never change I guess

Go with thepowdercoat for sure , and do your speakers at the same time if you want them to match. $400 for tower and all the cans here in Northern California.
