    Faria Replacement for Teleflex Speedo

Back in November '07 I took my boat (2000 SAN) to my dealer for some repairs and they recommended I replace the digital Teleflex speedometer and tachometer with the Faria ones since the Teleflex speedo wasn't working. They said the Faria gauge would work off of the paddle wheel for the perfect pass. The perfect pass wasn't working either, so I asked them to fix that by replacing the paddle wheel if necessary.

When I got the boat back, neither the Faria guage or perfect pass worked. (Nov 07)

I took my boat in two weeks ago and got it back last week. The Faria speedo was said to be wired backwards and should work. It worked through about 5mph, but at higher speeds it didn't work. The perfect pass didn't work. I got a replacement paddle wheel and took my SAN apart myself, rewired it, and got the perfect pass working.

The Faria gauge still isn't accurate AT ALL (reads 10-15mph slower then the GPS) and the "adjustment knob" doesn't seem to do anything. When I called the dealer today, they said something about running the Faria gauge off of the old air tube pick ups. Is this an option? Is it even possible to run the Faria gauge off it it? I've been having a very hard time getting a speedometer to work on this boat since the Teleflex guage went out...

    sorry for the essay...

RE: Faria Replacement for Teleflex Speedo

If the PP is working accurately then go by that. I've never had any luck with speedos being accurate. My teleflex guage doesnt work and it doesnt bother me at all. I only use PP.

RE: Faria Replacement for Teleflex Speedo

I'm not sure what to say advice wise, but there is a teleflex analog replacement that is made to run off the pitot tubes. Do a search and you will find quite a few posts on replacing the original gauges. Running the Faria off the pitot tubes sounds like they "rigged" it up.

We have that speedo too. There are two adjustment points. The macro one is on the back and it is a screw adjustment. The micro one is the dial that you adjust. If it's way off you need to take the dash off and adjust the back of the speedo first.

Sounds like you got a bad deal. I would either get the teleflex guages that look 100times better anyway and run of the existing pitot, or replace the pitot with the paddle wheel. Check this link.
