    Miracle On Boats

I found this pamphlet in our owner's manual for a 1984 2001. It was printed in 1946 and reprinted in November of 1984. Has anyone ever seen this?

I have never seen that. I added it to the PN Downloads section.

      RE: Miracle On Boats

There is a reference to this in Steven Ambrose's documentation of WWII (I think in the book June 6th 1944 late in tbe book or his book on Eisenhower....read so many I cannot keep them straight) where these boats were used to storm across the Rhine at basically full throttle, driven up on the beach and left with the motors till running at full throttle till they locked up or ran out of gas. Very few if any of the boats ever made the return trip back across the river as they established a floating bridge to bring across heavy equipment.

If I get a chance I will dig up the reference.

I'm sure it has been mentioned on the site before, but If you get the chance checkout "Parting the Waters: How Vision and Faith Made Good Business" by James Vincent

The book is all about Correct Craft. It covers the 'miracle production' as well as the work they did for the government during the Korean War that – due to a crooked inspector – lead to them filing bankruptcy in 1959.

The book also talks about what the Meloon family had to do to keep the company going. It is interesting to note that CC was only required to pay 20% of the dept owed, but they made the effort to repay 100% of the principal on their original dept. With the help of some winnings from their bass fishing team (Remember the Bass Nautique?), CC paid off the last of the dept in 1984.

I called my local Barnes and Noble and they ordered me a copy from the warehouse. It only took a couple of days to come in. (The advantages to having the store order a book are - no shipping charges and you can review the book before you buy it. If you find it is something you don’t want you don’t have to purchase it.) It looks like it is available on their web site and Amazon.com too for about $13.

I found a copy in my owners doc package in my new-to-me '03 SANTE. I knew the basics of the company history and their faith but never read the book until now...I'm halfway through it. The story and the ethics of the company are some of the primary reasons I've always been a CC fan. Just imagine, if all US companies operated with these same principles, we would be no where near the economic crisis that we are in now...think about that....
