    2002 Air Nautique 196 w/ Excalibur 330

Alright, I have officially found my dream boat. Now I just need to find one, and preferably, find one for sale. NADA puts the average price at about $18k, so there's a starting point to go from depending on condition and hours. This is the only year this boat existed and the first year of the excalibur 330, so I am definitely on a snipe hunt - it could take me a while to find one. Nevertheless, If I am ever going to find one, this would have to be the place to network my way into it right?

Technically it is a SNOB with tower and graphics, cool boat for sure. There was a yellow 196 Air on CL a few years ago down in TN or Kentucky area IIRC.

Out of curiousity, why do you want the 330? Quite a few SNOBs with GT40s around.

Quinner, you are correct that the hull is basically just a SNOB. I have a SNOB right now and I LOVE it, but there are only two things I would change about it. First, I would like it to have ZO instead of PP. An excalibur 330 can get ZO put on it for just a few thousand dollars. The GT-40 simply can't have ZO put on it. The second thing I would change about my SNOB would be to have a factory tower. This Air Nautique 196 would obviously have a tower right from the factory. At that point I would have everything I currently love about my current boat, and fill in the two holes where it is just a touch lacking.

Woops, I posted some SNOB stuff above. Here is the brochure page for the air 196.

I bought a 2002 last fall. It had the 5L engine which I replaced with a 2007 ZR6. Love it.

Love my SNOB (206) also, ordered with the factory tower and "Air" graphics (only because I liked them better then the "Nautique") and has the Excal, great boat!
Always been curious how the slalom wake compares between the 206 and your generation SNOB. Would not be too surprised if the TSC1 SNOB was better then the TSC2 SNOB being it's a foot shorter and likely a little lighter.

Canadanautiqueguy, that is beautiful. When you say the ZR6 engine, does that mean the 409? Which one is the ZR6?

What makes this boat an "air" nautique? Is it just the tower and OB? Does it have ballast tanks?

Why not just swap your current GT40 for a 330 Excal and do the ZO conversion that way?

The difference in the 98-2002 Sport and Air Nautique is Graphics, and Factory Hard Ballast Tanks. I have seen some Air's with no Towers. You can order them several ways.

                      FYI,

+ 1 That is what I am thinking.

Why not just swap a modern drive by wire engine and install a New Dimension Tower (Maryville, TN)? You would be putting a lot of money into an older boat, but what you are looking for will be hard to find as you stated. Jody at Florida Inboards in Panama City does those swaps all the time. He could give you a close cost estimate for ZO upgrade.

                        Just saying

                        Donald
