2012 SlingShot Lyman 140cm Wakeboard for sale - Excellent condition, ridden half a season behind the boat only (board kept in a board bag, no dings, scuffs, etc. - well taken care of)....no cable/rails/sliders use either. Board is too small for me, so I'm selling to buy the size up (the 144cm SS Lyman). Will also consider trading for the same board in a 144cm if anyone is interested. $265 + shipping. Thank you for viewing.

I'm pretty interested in this. Are there any hyperlite boards you could compare its ride to? Ill basically ride it a few times and hAng it up as tribute, but I'm curious about pop, looseness(when you want it) and landings. Thanks.

Hi Gride - I do not have much experience with Hyperlite boards (only ridden a premier and a 2011 Marek), but I think I can give you a pretty accurate description of how this board rides as I have ridden a lot of different boards. The pop on this board is incredible - it offers more pop than any board I've ridden and it is not an abrupt pop at all (since its a subtle 3 stage rocker) - the pop is smooth and consistent, perfect for beginner - intermediate riders who still have some work to do on their form. It is pretty loose when you want it to be (flatbased) because the fins are pretty small and the board has a lot of rocker (so their out of the water when riding flat). However, when you put it on edge, it locks in all the way to the wake with no slip (even in rough water). It also has a nice early release off the wake which is great for spins. Also, the fins are moveable (move them in towards the center for a more locked in feel, move them out for a looser feel) which is a great feature. As for landings, they are super soft due to the spine of the board and flex characteristics of a Slingshot. I have weak ankles and fragile knees, so soft landings is a must for me. This board gives you a lot of confidence coming into the wake because you know no matter where you land, its not going to hurt and the board is fast, so it doesn't stop on landings.....it keeps its speed which makes landings easy on your knees. I went tried a few of my traditional 3 stage boards recently (LF Watson Classic) and was tired after riding in a few minutes because it felt like it was plowing so much water and landing anything in the flats hurt because the LF Watson just stopped where as the Lyman lets you edge out of the trick with speed.
I would say its similar to a Marek in its predictability of pop, but it is much looser, has way more pop. lands softer and is way lighter - this board weighs a fraction of any traditional boards I've ridden.
Let me know - thanks.

Thanks for the description. I'm trying to convince myself to get it, but just a couple days ago I told myself I'm not buying anything that's not nessecary. If you still have it in a week or two ill probably take it off your hands. Have a good weekend.
Ps. Grab a long board and do a lot of flat riding where you have to kick. If you do it reg. and switch it builds your ankle muscles like crazy.Last edited by gride; 10-11-2012, 02:16 PM.

Gride - sounds good. I'll let you know if it sells between now and then. Also thanks for the tip on the ankle muscle workout....I hadn't heard of that but it makes sense. I'll give it a go! Keep me posted on the board....its just sitting in my office.

Andrew, unfortuneately I have decided to be responsible and not spend money where I don't need to spend it. Good luck with the sale. I've sold boards in the past with much less honor/story to them so don't let it go if you are a nostalgic person like myself.

Thanks for letting me know Gride - appreciate it. I just sold it to a fellow PN member in VT....so its going to a good home.
OKWAKEBDR - If you're looking for something that feels "lively" under your feet when you hit the wake and lands super soft, then you should really look into Flex and/or Hybrid boards (but I would stay with ones that are known for being good boat boards too - ie. like the SS Lyman and LF Watson Hybrid....I think pure cable boards might be a little too "flexy"/loose for boats, although I could be wrong). As myself and my riding buddies get older, we're looking more towards flex/hybrid boards to protect those knees....they're also just a lot of fun to ride (kind of gives the sport a new spin).
I have a 2011 LF Watson Board that is in great shape if you're interested.
