G23 Underwater Light Wiring

I have the factory underwater lighting, and would like to disconnect each light individually to troubleshoot a circuit fault. In my quick look, I didn't see the wiring, or even the lights on the inside. Do you need to access them via one of the portals? Where is the easiest place to disconnect each light?

Bonus question - Are the lights just installed from the outside with screws into the fiberglass, or is there a backer on the inside?

The connection is in a big zip tied bundle on the inside of the engine compartment on the transom side back wall.
