    Cutting Sub Vent

I am looking at buying one or two of these vents in this thread - https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...t-the-boom-out

What is the best practice for cutting these holes so as not to damage the nearby gel coat. I am thinking the following:

    1. Blue tape over the entire area
    2. Trace an outline for the cutout.
    3. Use a dremel to score through the gel coat along the outline
    4. Drill a couple of holes at the edge (run the drill in reverse at first to prevent spider web cracking)
    5. Use a reciprocating saw with a fine blade to cut along the scored outline.

Any other way/suggestions to do this?

Painters tape, mark the cutout, pull the carpet down on the inside, make sure it's level, several holes with a hole saw, then use an air reciprocating saw to cut it out.
