I have a question about the push issue...could that be fixed by going to a different board? Just wondering, I only have one board, its one of the original skim style Phase 5 boards that isn't very large, but had to drop another $500-600 bucks on something what wont "help" not being able to keep up.

I have a 5'4 Hyperlite broadcast and a 5'0 I.S. Squirt and neither really seem to just hold in the pocket for me at 200. Take that with a grain of salt... I likely only have a few hours of real up in the wave riding time. I feel better on the 5' board than the larger broadcast. Im not a super social party cove guy, so I don't get much of a chance to get pointers from anyone and its possible that my issue is form and foot placement. I'm interested in seeing what this gate can do because there are a lot of guys singing the praises of these things. Im thinking even though a wave may look great, there are a lot of angles at play back there and the shapers Appear to help with that alignment.

Do you have the option on the phase 5 to change your fin placement? Or is it fixed? I can tell you that for me, I can feel a difference in the speed when I change the fins around.

How much weight are you guys running? here's a pic of my 2002 with both 750s in the rear, 600 in the locker, and 400 up front. That's with my SWELL Wakesurf Creator attached just in front of the angled part about 2" below the water line. My buddy has a '16 RI237 and while his wave is bigger, not nearly enough to shell out the cash for . . . The other pic is with the boat listed, so only one side tank full, everything else full, but no wakesurf shaper.

I bit the bullet and bought the Mission for 400$ prime delivered it the next day because i was to impatient to buy it any other way. I have a 236 with 1100's in the rear and i used 2 v drive sacks up front as i haven't purchased my arrow sack. The wake was cleaner and a lot bigger than listing the boat with 1100 in the rear belly tank 450 on the rear seat and another 600 in the floor. I was really impressed with this and probably wont end up retro'ing nss onto the boat. Ill get some pictures this weekend for you all. It makes it much easier to drive without the list as well. My only issue is i need to get a new prop so i am not turning 3200 rpm.

Got any pics? You're the first I've heard of running on the 230/236. Last 2 yrs I've been running the piggyback sacs listed and have been happy with the results but, of course, would prefer not listing. I've reached out to mission, but haven't found anyone using this product on our boats.

Here are the pics that i took the other day when i was out. I was driving so it made it a bit difficult to get a good angle of the wave. I am still working on placement.

Has anyone tried to use wakeshapers on both sides ..... My thought is it might move the wave formation back further from the platform?

If you used one on both sides they would cancel out the delayed convergence which is the the whole purpose of having one anyways. It would not push the wave formation further back.

For anyone with suck gate direct drive questions, I built one of these last weekend and wanted to share:
It would not fit on the angled part of the hull (2001 Air Nautique), the hull was not flat enough. I ended up making it at about a 60 degree angle and installing on the side of the boat instead, near the angled corner of the hull. I did the angle where the gate installed backward (cups in front of wedge). It stayed on fine and it did make a noticable difference in the wave. This was our first time to try to surf and it took a while but my son was able to throw the rope in the boat and it had enough wave to work. We had 7 people (~1100lbs of passengers) and the stock ballast full (700lbs). We were using a Shredd Styx 4'4" board and I think it would have done much better with bigger board both because we were begginers and because I *think that board is meant for lighter people.

Late to the discussion but I just saw this thread linked in another. I got into making shapers a number of years ago. My BIL had a '93 ProStar, and we got interested in surfing. Rather than spend the bucks on a Mission Delta (at the time, that was the only commercial suction cup model), I busted out my skills. We lost a few to the lake gods, and in the process, I refined my design. These now float . Unfortunately, they don't work on the hull of his new boat (X10--I can't find smaller suction cups, so we had to buy Nauticurl Flex), but they work very well on my SV211. I've added dimples to the face of one, like the Swell H3X--not sure if it makes a difference, but it didn't cost me anything to try.

Rather than cutting boards, I just buy 1/2" HDPE. The suctions are from Harbor Freight. They occasionally break, but they're only like $8, so I just keep spare parts in the boat. I think they end up costing < $25 total (plus a couple hours of work).

Just wanted resurrect this thread to share my design.
