Is this right? Seems like a weird fit at best? Am I missing some kind of mounting plate/piece/washer between the Fct5 mount and the speaker itself?

Are those "X-Mount" pods? There should be a spacer plate that bolts to the pod first,

I had the spinner clamps (tc3-s) before... Pulled those off, and now trying to use the factory looking fct5 mount. It matches up but just does not seem 100%. Are you saying I need to buy the fct mount PLUS a second mount?

You need to top spacer plates that would have been included with the pods if they were X-Mount pods, since thats what the FTC5 mount is. You need the X-Mount conversion kit. Or, bolt the TC3-S back to the pod and just detach the tube clamp portion and surface mount the tower side of the TC3-S to the FTC5 adapter.

So if I take this spinner apart i can mount it to the fct mount and maintain its ability to spin?

yes. Not the FTC5 adapter. but same concept. Lower/pod side of TC3-S bolts right back to the pod as it was, upper/tower side of TC3-S bolts to FTC adapter and swivel mates as it did before.
