Does anyone have experience on replacing their original stereo? I have the Clarion XMD3 with M301RC wired remote. Looking at upgrading to the Clarion M505. Will it fit in same slot without modifications? Will the wiring fit original harnesses? Also I note that the old wired remote won't work with new stereo. The old wire remote is oval and new is round. Anyone have experience with cutting out / fit of new wire remote. Will the wire remote cable be the same or does that need to be changed also?

The xmd and m505 both require the same 7 x 5 cut out, so as long as the original cut was clean, it will fit. But, we typically find that the slot is cut sloppy because of the xmd's larger face. You will also have mounting screw holes left visible. Some 1/16" ABS can be fabricated as a cosmetic trim plate to improve fitment and conceal the screw holes.
Yes, wire colors are the same.
Remote cables will not work, the old ones are 6 pin and the new remotes are 8 pin. -
Thanks. How hard is it to pull new remote cable? Also what about going from m301 to M1W on wired remote? Does that cut out need to be modified as old is oval and new is circle?Comment

Long reach and a lot of sip ties is all thats needed to pull the new cables. Leave the old ones as is. They are often times bundled with the factory boat harness. IIRC, the new round remote actually requires a larger round hole then what the old oval units required.Comment

We thought about changing the head unit, but all we really used it for was to connect an iphone. Instead, went with a WetSounds eq and roswell cybox. The cybox is blue tooth connected to Aux, Clarion head unit on main. Works like a charm! All I need to do now if figure out a slick way to hold the iphone. In the drink holder for now.

Cybox was easy. I have the WS eq under the Clarion remote pad, and Cybox is on the driver kick panel. That's where I put mine because I plug into the EQ. U can mount it anywhere. Just need 12v and to connect to your amp inputs. It works well.

for information, just few pics of the stereo upgrade on the 04 210 SANTE i've just bought:
- Clarion CMS2 unit
- Clarion MW1 remote
- Clarion Sub CMQ2512W
- Clarion Amp 5 channel XC6610
- Polk Audio DB651 speakers
It's enough for me but i just want to change the sub enclosure, the original is very bad (not closed)Comment

where did you get that faceplate that the CMS2 is on with the AC adapter plug. It says clarion but I do not see that face plate that you have that covers the original XMD3 radioComment
