The first day someone complained about the music, I knew this day would come for Lake Austin.

But, here ya go. This new law just passed in November. Basically, a cove party killer. But, since houses are so close to the shore you can expect complaints everywhere now that they have a legal complaint and the police will have a law to enforce. Gotta love Austin...we will have so many laws pretty soon you will just have to stay in your house to keep from getting a ticket or thrown in jail. I am sure open container will be next. Welcome to the USSR.

I was waiting for this. i'm well aware of the law. I look at this the same way I look at owning a reallly fast car. It's a lot of fun until you get caught, and even then it's only slightly less fun.

Either way, thanks for the link to the law, i've been meaning to look it up so that I can forward it to my lawyer for preparation

      Also -

The benefit of partying in the cove with several other boats is they have no real proof of "who" fired the gun.

Sure my boat might look like a big gun, but I promise I never turn it up loud. lol.

I hear ya! No pun intended. Look forward to seeing your boat out on the water this summer. We've already had a few days that feel like great lake days.

Skiing, where did you get those threaded inserts you epoxied to the side of your hull shown in your ballast install?

Very similar to the growing disappearance of off road areas and parks due to some politicians listening to the tree huggers that believe walking in them destroys the land. Ahhhh....then what are they for?? Sometimes, I think people forget this world will be here long after it shakes us off like fleas.

I am sure we won't know the true impact of this new law until the summer is in full swing and we start hearing the stories or dealing with the authorities. Sad.

I guess I am just old school. The lake and boaters were here long before the newer houses and they knew what they were getting into when they wanted to live on a public lake. If I moved next to a concert arena I shouldn't be able to ask them to stop having events. A lawmaker should just say, "What did you expect?".

Guess I will get off my soap box now. Not trying to hijack the post.
And I guess I'm really old school. I remember when you could go on the lake and not have to listen to what other people considered good music. Seriously, how loud does it have to be?
I really don't know anything about the new law, but I guess we'll find out this summer.
But I rarely have to deal with the excessively loud music because I'm usually off of Lake Austin by 10am on a weekend.

We can definitely agree on one thing. I too can't stand the home owners who complain about activity on a public lake. They constantly need to be reminded that they don't own the lake.

I have one pair of the Pro 80s with about 150w rms/channel and it's great for riding behind the boat. Any other speakers probably wouldn't cut it, except maybe the NVS. I'm sure it's too loud with this new law.

Who knew starting this thread would turn me in to the bad guy?????

What do you mean how loud does it have to be? It's a hobby, I enjoy building and working on the stereo just as much as I like listening to it. It's mostly about the wow factor, not about blowing lake side houses down from 1000 ft away. We have several properties on lake austin. I've lived on the lake my entire life every where from steiner ranch to Cuernavaca to westlake hills. I consider my self very respectful of other people on the lake and my surroundings.

I should have some more progress pictures today, unfortunately I'm leaving for alabama this weekend so I wont have much time to button it up.

I'm not saying you're a bad guy, just saying I don't always like to hear other peoples music.
I'm sure some people don't like me going by at 30+ mph at 6:30am.

Which thru hulls are you refering too? The intakes on the bottom of the boat or the over flows that I put in the side of the boat near the bumper rail? Either way they are both Nautique parts from the nautique parts counter. I believe I put the part numbers on my post. If you need help let me know.

I'm also going to recarpet the sub box behind the drivers seat with the carpet i did the amp box in.. as it matches much better.. Will update in a bit with some LED pics, once it's darker outside. Sorry for the blurry pics.. crappy point and shoot!
