Letting people use your stuff

The only person to ever use my ski is my dad.
People that are advanced skiers or boarders always have their own equipment anyways (well 98% of the time I guess).
I have older or less expensive stuff for guests to use.
I have my own rope, gloves, vest and ski that I use and then put away after each use to avoid anyone picking them up and using them.

I have my board and another board in the boat. I figure most people borrowing gear are new and need to use the less aggressive board anyways. I actually kept my old board as a courtesy to guests not to hog the new stuff.

As for water in the boat. Boats get wet I can let it sit in the sun for an hour and it will dry out after I take it home. No big deal for me.

I share all my equipment (except my wetsuit). In regards to the foil, I run the show. I'm not worried about a scuff on the board, but a ding in the wing or the t-bar affects the performance in a big way. If they don't like that, go buy their own 5.3K foil. With that being said, I carry and move the foil around in the boat. It saves everyone heartburn if it gets dinged or dings the boat.

I pull a lot of rug rats (that's more fun than skiing). Kids are easy to deal with. Generally, they listen well or are very grateful to have the opportunities. Plus, if they're family, they are already broke in to the rules of the world. On top of that, my kids are brainwashed. They make sure the other kids tow the line. A Dad kind of likes that.....

If an adult is hard on my equipment, they can follow my rules or get out. I really don't care. I won't loose one ounce of sleep over it. I busted my a$$ to have my equipment.

People can use anything of mine, except if my life jacket is already wet. If it is dry, they have to wait or use a different...I just hate putting on a wet life vest...

I am lucky though, I have a nice hook up on gear...The benefits of the barter system...

One thing I forgot to mention in my earlier reply.....I have bought some stuff specifically for other folks to wear. What I mean is that I have some things that are to be used for beginners. For instance, I bought some $50 Rogue wakeboard bindings that are awesome for beginners. That way they are in the right gear for their level, and they are not using my stuff unless they get to the point that they are ready?
