Instead of threadjacking sstexan's towing comparision, thought I'd start this one...I have a truck to pull the boat and am thinking of putting a camper shell on it. Anybody do this and see a change in gas mileage? Not sure but I'm thinking it would improve the towing aerodynamics. It would DEFINITELY help with hauling the 'stuff'.

RE: Gas Mileage
I think this is a location thing, but is a camper shell a topper? I have a topper on my Ram and it made no difference but the storage is great. When I think of a camper shell I think of a pop up camper.2016 SAN 210

yeah, sorry for the confusion. I do believe they are called 'toppers' up North.

A topper will improve towing as far as wind drag in the bed and the front of the boat. Not sure if you would actually realize better gas mileage or not. Logically, you would think so, but you are towing a pretty heavy load.the WakeSlayer
