I think Brent is a skilled craftsman who does great work. Not so good on business/time management. Extremely few people are good at both (and I think the majority of people are actually not so good at either).

I think if he could partner with someone to help on the business and time management side he'd have a winner of a business.

My experiences with him were OK from a business standpoint but the covers are excellent. The one for our SV211 is I think about 15 years old and only needs to be replaced because it rubbed up against our lift for a few weeks. It's been on/off maybe 20-40 times each year. It will be replaced with another from Brent this winter. No other cover I've seen compares in design or quality of workmanship.

Great cover. Terrible customer service. Got my cover for my 97 Nautique after a few weeks. Said he had one in stock but still took 3 weeks to ship out. Wouldn't respond in reasonable time (days). Complained about cost of shipping and then said he had covid. DO NOT SEND HIM FULL PAYMENT!!!

I just placed an order with Brent last week.

Reasons I am prepared to take a bit of (possible) bad with the good?

I have until next spring so I'm not really in a rush.

Brent said he could get it to me in 3 months. That will be just fine, and 5 months would be OK as well.

I have seen nothing but praise for the quality of the work.

My boat is one that he already has plans for (2005 SV211).

I read someone say there has never been a case where money was paid but no cover was produced.

I would be more upset if the product I got was not great, and then had to deal with trying to return it, than if the product is a bit late getting here.

Post an update when you get it! I got mine 3-4 years ago and though he was not quick, I was in a similar situation as you (and expected that), and I am continually impressed by the cover.

I have similar expectations. Let me know how the cover is when you receive it.

That's great to hear. I ordered a few months and am excited to receive it. Question, does the cover secure under the rub rail?

Assuming his covers haven't changed, yes they do via 'J' hooks at various points on both sides (like in this image).

Additionally a drawstring runs the entire circumference and holds them snug under the rub rail.

                    Yeah, what he said. :)

I had a link to a Youtube video that Brent sent me on how to install the cover, but it appears that the video is no longer there.

Received my cover and I'm very happy with it. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design and craftsmanship. Unfortunately the installation video that was shared earlier is no longer available. Does anyone have tips to install properly?

Well I ordered a cover from Brent in the fall of 2024 ( not my first cover from him). It’s now summer of 2026 and I still don’t have my cover. He takes weeks to respond and when he does just one excuse after another. Of course it was paid for in advance. I now have damage to my interior due to waiting on this cover which I will be going after him for. I have started a small claims suit against him for the cost of the cover plus the damage I have incurred. While he can make a good cover, I would highly recommend not to buy anything from him as he is a complete mess and you will be wasting your money. He was always eccentric but I think he has now completely lost it

Mark2 Dam ( wrong spelling but you get the point, no explitives premitted on this site) 2 year wait that is unreal. Are their covers really that much better then all the compititor covers to have to wait over 2 years? It is a miricle he is still in business operating in this manner.

I've met Brent and been to his home. IMO he has substance abuse problems. It's sad as his covers are really nice and he sells them at a reasonable price. I waited like 4 or 5 months for my cover but it sounds like the situation has gone downhill in last few years. I hope he gets the help he needs.

It would be great if someone could "partner" with him on his design and manufacture. I just trailered 1,200 miles for a weeks lake house rental get-away and the cover performs excellent. Stays put with no rubbing. I only use this cover when trailering to preserve its condition, and it is so nice to have a clean boat after a long trip. I probably have 5,000 miles on this 5-year old cover.

I am reaching out to see if anyone else has had similar communications regarding Brent's boat covers recently.

I previously bought a cover from Brent and it was awesome. I recently changed boats and reached out to him again a few weeks ago. Someone named Steve replied, stating that Brent was in hospice and that he was taking over past due and new orders. This person raised the price but promised quick delivery. After several emails, the person now says their name is Rick and that they could get me a cover in a couple of weeks.

I am a little skeptical about sending $1,000 to individuals responding from Brent's email address who will not provide their full names, phone numbers, or any detailed information. Does anyone know Steve or Rick, or know who is now making covers for Brent?
