Naked 1981?

The exterior of my 81 is in bad need of replacement. After seeing a lot of you removing the graphics off your newer boats, I got to thinking about doing the same on this one. Plus, it'd be cheaper than getting new decals to replace the paint. Here is a photoshopped (I'm not that great w/ ps) picture of it "clean" verses the original.

Tell me what you think. Or if you have any other suggestions, let me know.

hey bud my 81' sn 20th anniversary was naked when i got her..........she looked great w/out the graphics but i think your boat looks great w/the graphics so i would keep the graphics.

Hum... ya... I think I might like the graphics better... There's just not enough lines on those older boats I suppose. I dunno, it may work.

honestly, I like the original style graphics ... but I can imagine that replacement decals would be several hundred dollars ... I think you at least want new Ski Nautique lettering, but perhaps you could skip the striping and save a bit by doing colored lettering only ... nice picture/boat

The graphics in those days were painted on. I'd get them re-painted or re-paint them yourself. Apparently it's not that bad of a job to re-paint them since the gel under the paint will be a different shade than the rest- basically a built-in template.

Stencils are available at CCFan for that boat. It's an anniversary model, keep it original!

I like the look of the graphics on the older boats. There is something about an older boat still looking original.

Yeah put the graphics back on, I like some of the new boats with no graphics, but with these old ones, i think the old graphics are one of the coolest things about them, simple, clean, no extra barbed wire or any of that ****. Nice boat BTW

I have the stencles for it. Alan (81skinautique I think is his sn) over at CCFan emailed them to be last year after he finished his. His boat came out really nice!

I had an '81 Barefooter redone with '89 graphics sevral years ago, and it turned out really sharp :!: Sorry to say I don't have any photos of it handy, but it was a white hull with teal stripes and the '89 "Barefoot Nautique" decals on the side. I also had the interior done in teal / white / gray to match. Just my 2 cents :idea:
