1971 Correct Craft Southwind.

Hey Guys,

I have my project boat finally, to add to the Super Air Nautique, and the Ski Nautique 2001, both of which would never even be so much as dipped in the ocean. I just picked her up on Saturday with my Dad, who is my partner in this project.

She will be our lake cruiser on Lake Winnipesaukee and the mighty Atlantic. She is going to be my dive boat. An actual Correct Craft in the actual Ocean. I can't wait to have this baby finished. First parts are already arriving.

wow... thats awesome.. diving + nautiques... never thought the two could go together (unless you run over a line)

for some reason.. lake w. seems more intimidating to that boat than the ocean.. :???: that lake is ginormous

When are you heading to Winnipesaukee this summer? We're heading up at some point. Would be cool to meet up. Maybe we could do some diving in the lake. There are a number of good wrecks there.

Jeff pretty much whenever you say, I can be there. My Dad lives up there and I am up in the Lake W area once a month on average, at least. it is only a few hours from my home.

But I tow the SAN up once or twice a summer. However the Southwind will remain there all summer. I would love to meet up, and wrecks are my specialty. I have loads of diving equipment too although you would probably need to bring your stuff too (or - rent). We have a few nicer, newer pieces of equipment, but lots of old stuff too (no metal helmets though - not that old Yellow_Flash_Colorz: )

Eric, how come you didn't go with the Fish N? Seems like the better choice for the job....

I would have gone with a Fish Nautique but they are very expensive in terms of project potential and to be quite honest one did not pop up. I would have also gone with a Sea Nautique or Cuddy Nautique but who knows what I'll find in the future. Considering what we will do with it, this Southwind is the right boat at the right time.

And regarding the diving question: Lake W has surprisingly good visibility; in fact it has the best visibility for a lake that I have ever seen in New England. Better than some parts of the Atlantic that I have dove.

I remember it was something ridiculously low when you mentioned it on CCF. That guy must have either been wealthy or just wanted the thing gone, that is a steal if there ever was one. Have fun with it and keep us posted with progress and pictures.

Right on. I am not sure when we're heading up this summer, but we'll be there at some point with the new 236. I haven't been diving in a couple of years (and never in Winnipesaukee), so that would be great. I've done a good amount of snorkeling in that lake though, and yes, the visibility is outstanding, especially compared to the mudpits that pass for lakes in VA/NC.
