Aussie OG SAN 2001 resto mod

    2001 SAN
It Been quite some years since being active on PN . Including forgetting my original username from too many years ago. I see Nautique Jeff has quite the previous owned list these days. I owned a 94 snob back early 2000s and this page and Jeff’s 94 was great inspiration. I recently picked up this very sad and neglected 2001 SAN from Perth in Western Australia. Trucked it 4200klm to Brisbane and amidst a cyclone and exactly 1 week got it to the Nautique central owners reunion on Somerset dam west of Brisbane.

To my absolute amazement the original owners / importers were there and have told me some of it’s history including being the official Towboat for many events including Planet X Extreme Games in Sydney 2001.

Amazing to have a piece of Australian Wakeboarding history . She’s very tired and will post more photos soon . Looking forward to another PN adventure.

this page is an absolute gold mine of information and recommend it to anyone I meet looking for info.

looking forward to sharing the build .

The Bimini is from wantedwake.com.au here in Australia. This is the one I ordered. Bit time consuming and fiddly to get it to sit where I wanted it to .

Hey Bullet , Pictures would be great… I’m definitely removing tower for re powder coating in a couple of weeks. The windshield definitely needs it but I really can’t risk a piece being damaged.
The Trailer has had a full strip back paint ,rims ,tyres ,springs ,brakes and bunks.
interior is booked in at a local Gold Coast Trimmer that Nautique Central use and recommend. all floor carpet will come out and I’ll assess how flat / or not it is for Deck Armour ( 8mm thick Sea deck stuff) . Also know that I’ll need to re gap the floor hatches to make a nicer fit .

will also be upgrading ballast pump system. Details TBC.

also need to find rear latches for the sundeck hatches and really would love to find some engine cover decals for the GT40.

Aussie Tim although the windshield frame seems daunting it is well worth doing if you intend to get the boat to a level that it deserves.
Plenty of photos before you pull the screen off, more photos as you disassemble the screen ( both close up and with perspective).
Importantly you need to find a powder coater the listens and understand that the internals ( where the rubber gasket and glass fit ) of the frame need to be lightly coated compared to the external heavier covering.
On reassembly lots of soft coverings on the work bench for protection and lots and lots of soapy water on the rubber gaskets and the glass it will all slide back together with a little effort and time.
