In reference to the Pics of the re-done Gel on the 90 SN...

Here's a pic of my 90 SN with the original Gel- this is why you get an CC. This gel has never been waxed or re-done- the previous owner thought it was bad to wax a porous surface. I tend to agree- look!

The boat looks great. I cringe when I see someone who abuses a CC when they can look so good. Doubt you will see many MC or Malibus looking like that from the early 90's!!

That looks great! You must be on to something there. That's probably the nicest looking SN I've seen from that era. What do you do to keep it looking like that?

Well, it was a single owner boat since 1990. I just got it 2 years ago. The prev. owner always stored it indoors, and religiously wiped it down after every use. He also sprayed the whole boat down with pledge after every use. Apparently furniture polish is very good for the gel, and lets it breathe. Probably blocks some UV rays as well....

The dealer told me yesterday to use Fantastic on the upolstrey and 303 preservitive. He said under no curcumstances use any Armor All. After seeing this I think I will get some Pledge for the hull.

Definately don't use Armor All on the vinyl. It will destroy it. Another product that works great is Meguiars Vinyl/Rubber cleaner and conditioner. I use it on the vinyl and the dash and rub rails (rubber ones). Does anyone know where you can by a product called bypas? The stuff is awesome but I can't seem to find it too well. I found it at a Farmer Jack grocery store before but that was about it.

Speaking of rubber rub rail, does anyone know what to use on the old fashioned rope rub rail, the one on the old 2001s???

are you looking for a new insert? if so get a 3 strand twisted Nylon line from boaters world, or better yet WEST MARINE. Here's my advice about Boaters World: cheaper is not always better. Buy boat stuff from people who know about boats.
