Official Nautique Press Release:
ORLANDO, FL (June 28, 2026) - Nautique Boats is proud to celebrate the successful opening stop of the inaugural Nautique Water Ski World Series with the Botaski ProAm presented by GM Marine, held at the world-renowned Botaski water ski facility in Seseña, Spain. Marking the beginning of a groundbreaking five-stop series, the event brought the world's best three-event water ski athletes together for an unforgettable four days of elite competition, record-breaking performances, and international camaraderie.
The debut stop attracted nearly 100 athletes representing over 20 countries, showcasing the truly global reach of three-event tournament waterskiing. A total of 40 professional athletes competed alongside 22 Under-21 competitors with strong international representation from the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, Colombia, Canada, Austria, Denmark, and many other nations from around the world.
Nautique has proudly partnered with Botaski for more than a decade, making it a fitting venue to launch this exciting new chapter for the sport. Directed by Ricardo Botas and Cristina Medem, Botaski has become one of the world's premier tournament water ski destinations. Featuring two purpose-built man-made lakes engineered specifically for waterskiing, the site consistently provides world-class conditions for training and competition.
The Nautique Water Ski World Series at the Botaski ProAm delivered history almost immediately, with two pending World Records established behind the Ski Nautique - the first World Records ever set at the Botaski site. Eight-time World Record holder and Team Nautique athlete Erika Lang (USA) set a pending Pro Women's Tricks World Record with 11,710 points, while Jake Abelson (USA) established a pending Pro Men's Tricks World Record with 13,100 points. In the Under-21 division, Cristhiana De Osma (PER) also added her name to the record books by setting a new Peruvian Under-21 Women's Slalom National Record with 3.5 @ 10.75m (39.5 off).
Lang continued her remarkable weekend by capturing the Pro Women's Tricks title with 11,430 points in the finals, followed by fellow Team Nautique athlete Neilly Ross (CAN), who secured second place with 10,520 points.
“I am so happy to have taken the win as well as set a new pending World Record of 11,710 points at the first stop of the Nautique Waterski World Series,” said Team Nautique Athlete, Erika Lang. “I had just found out that my previous World Record of 11,560 points had been approved, so I was feeling super confident on the water going into the event. The redesigned Ski Nautique has been the key factor in helping me achieve these scores - the newly designed hull has allowed me to trick faster, getting more tricks in time than ever before. I’m excited for the rest of the Nautique Water Ski World Series and to see if I can push my score even higher.”
Team Nautique athletes also dominated the Pro Slalom divisions. Charlie Ross (CAN) claimed the Pro Men's Slalom title with a winning score of 0.5 @ 9.75m (42 off), while Regina Jaquess (USA) delivered a record-setting performance in Pro Women's Slalom, establishing a new Botaski course record with 2.5 @ 10.25m (41 off) to earn the victory.
“It’s been an amazing start to the year,” said Team Nautique athlete, Charlie Ross. “Winning the Botaski ProAm this weekend qualified me for the 2027 Nautique Masters and put me in the lead for the very first Nautique World Series Overall Pro Men’s Slalom Champion title. Continuing forward, I aspire to do everything in my power to try and claim a World Series Championship and be best prepared for the Masters next year! A Masters title is something I have dreamed about for as long as I can remember. Qualifying this weekend was the first step in making that dream a reality.”
“As an athlete, the Nautique Water Ski World Series is amazing,” said Team Nautique Athlete Regina Jaquess. “It’s giving us a chance to have tournaments in all three events year-round. Motivation is strong amongst the athletes, as you can see with Erika breaking the World Record in Tricks! I was able to set a course lake record of 2.5 @ 41 and take the win at the first stop of the series at Botaski ProAm. I can’t wait to have more opportunities at the next four stops behind the redesigned Ski Nautique to get down 41! Thank you to the Botas Family and Nautique Boats for a great event and setting the new standard. It was special to take the win and have the support on site with the Nautique crew in Spain!”
With the first stop complete, athletes now turn their attention to the remaining four events as they continue to accumulate points toward qualification for the Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament®, presented by GM Marine.
"The Botaski ProAm exceeded every expectation we had for the opening stop of the Nautique Water Ski World Series," said Nautique President, Greg Meloon. "To witness athletes from 26 countries come together, see two pending world records established behind the Ski Nautique, and watch competitors across the Professional, Under-21, and Senior divisions perform at such an incredible level was an unforgettable way to launch this series. We're proud to create new opportunities for athletes around the world while continuing to invest in the future of three-event waterskiing."
We are grateful to our valued partners, GM Marine, PCM Marine Engines, Eagle Wetsuits, ZeroOff, Masterline, Syndicate Waterskis, and JL Audio for their belief in our vision and incredible support in helping us bring this exciting new series to fruition.
