Official Correct Craft Press Release:
Orlando, FL (July 23, 2026) - Today, Correct Craft announced the acquisition of Fluid Motion, the parent company of Ranger Tugs, Cutwater Boats, and Solara Boats. Fluid Motion will continue to operate, retaining its own brands and team members, and will remain headquartered in Monroe, Washington while continuing to serve its dealers and owners. Ranger Tugs has been building boats since 1958, earning a loyal following for its craftsmanship and performance. That same following has grown alongside Cutwater Boats' precision engineering and Solara Boats' standout lineup of premium features. That combined community now joins the Correct Craft family, a family with over 100 years of history in the marine industry.
Fluid Motion's roots trace back to the Ranger Fiberglass Boat Company, founded in Kent, Washington in 1958. John, Jennifer and David Livingston purchased the company in 1998 and built it into Ranger Tugs, introducing the R-25 tugboat in 2006 to strong demand. The company launched Cutwater Boats in 2011 and added Solara Boats in 2022. Today, Fluid Motion designs, engineers, and builds every boat in-house across multiple facilities in Washington State.
All three brands share the same DNA of craftsmanship and performance. Ranger Tugs builds pocket cruisers from 23 to 43 feet, offered with diesel inboard or gas outboard engines and known for tugboat-inspired styling built for extended cruising. Cutwater Boats builds fuel-efficient, feature-packed cruisers from 24 to 32 feet that pair sport-boat performance with comfortable overnight accommodations. Solara Boats, the newest of the three, offers trailerable sport, cruising, and fishing models loaded with premium standard features for day boating, fishing, and watersports.
“I am proud of the company and brands that our team has built,” said John Livingston of Fluid Motion. “The acquisition by Correct Craft provides significant opportunities for long-term growth while continuing to honor the legacy of Ranger Tugs, Cutwater and Solara. Most importantly, it provides additional security and opportunity for our employees, dealers, and the owners who trust us with their time on the water.”
“We are excited to have Fluid Motion join us as part of the Correct Craft family,” said Zach Hutcheson, CEO of Correct Craft. “John and his team have built something special, and the culture and quality around Ranger Tugs, Cutwater and Solara fits naturally alongside our existing brands. We're excited to continue providing their owners with exceptional products and experiences.”
