I just went to install my battery, and the clamp for the positive terminal broke. I followed the cable back to the engine and replacing it seems like a nightmare. Anyone ever tried to fix just the clamp without replacing the cable? I remember seeing replacement clamps somewhere before, but I wonder if that should even be done. Thanks.

we just did new battery cables (+ and -) and it was really easy. But if you have enough slack you can put a new clamp on, just cut off the very end(nasty stuff) put on the new clamp and silicone it or solder it. We used rings for the ease of use.I don\'t care.

Don't get the temporary bolt on clamp. You will have major corrosion issues. Get the kind that must be crimped on, but you will also need the special crimping tool.
I agree that ring terminals are best, but the battery might not have ring terminals on it.

ag4ever is probably right about the corrosion, but I replaced mine about 2 years ago with the cheap bolt on end, and it has been fine ever since. At the time it was a temporary fix, but I havent seen the need to do anything else about it yet.
