I have a purple one now and thinkI may want to go just black or use a black rope but I have no idea where to start looking for it. Any ideas where and how much I would expect to spend.

Your dealer can order what ever color you want. I just installed a new rub rail and it was not bad at all. The insert will go right in on a hot day. I used some soapy water to help it slide in. Use a rubber mallet to pop it in. Took me about an hour and a half.2001 Super Air Nautique
