I haven't found anything about this specifically in my search. I'm just finishing up my first belt change. I loosened the belt tensioner on the alternator, which was originally positioned about half way up the slot. I loosened the nut and got the belt off without much trouble. But I could not get the replacement belt (both were the same PCM part number (66001 IIRC)) on without removing the bolt securing the alternator to the tensioner completely.
When I reattached the alternator to the tensioner, I could not get it nearly as far up in the tensioner bracket slot as before. Now, I'm just barely above the bottom of the slot. However, tension seems about right (.25" of travel).
Is this typical of newer PCM belts? Will it loosen over time and require further adjustment? Is there anything obvious I may have missed?
Thanks.
