    alternator question- PCM 502

I need some help. I have a 99 Super Air with the 502 engine. I have had the bot two years. I have a two battery setup, with a switch on them. I have the stock 55 amp alternator. After buying the boat i installed a stereo system with one Alpine PDX 4.150 Amp, and a perfect pass. I have never seen the voltage guage run higher than about 12.5. When everything is running it occasionally will dip pretty low. I tightened my belt last weekend while cleaning etc, and the first time out the slipped off. It was in terrible shape so I have since ordered and installed a new one from MWCC. It still only reads 11.75 --> 12.25. I think I want to install a larger alternator.
Does anyone know if I can just add a larger one with out having to change wiring, belts etc ? Should I check anything else before making this leap ? Everyone with a fat stereo and other stuff on thier boats seem to have done this. I did a search but the posts are not for my motor, so I am not really sure what to do here.

    All help appreciated.

    thanks !!
