01 air nautique winterize first timer

Greetings fellow nautique owners. I’m a new owner and my family just had a great problem-less summer on our 01 with 140 hrs and am going to be winterizing my boat the first time. Wondering any tips and tricks as well as maybe a quick guide? Can someone link me to the best step by step? Are people putting fogging oil in? What’s the best way to do that with fuel injection? How long do you usually have to run to open that stat up prior? You all saved me when I first bought the boat it wouldn’t start so I appreciate all you guys! Thanks

I assume you have a GT40 right? Do a search...lots of writeups on winterizing that engine. If somethings not clear after doing a little reading, post your questions here.

Also - do an audit of all your water specific features - do you have any tanks? Shower? Heater? Each will need consideration.

You don't need to fog the engine. Some folks add fuel stabilizer prior to putting the boat away. I have never used any and it's been fine but we tend to put up in mid November and unwrap in March.

There's a brass plug (if you don't have a shower) on the port side near the transmission cooler, drain that. Under the raw water pump another drain plug. On the starboard side near the front higher another drain plug. I put those back in except the one at the rear and take the hose off the exhaust on the port side coming from the thermostat. Hold that hose up and pour in an antifreeze mix until you see it coming out the rear drain plug. Put that plug in. Dump the water out of the strainer. Take the hose off the strainer going to the cooler. I have a 5 gallon bucket with a hose attached to the bottom and clamp it in the hose going to the cooler. Put a couple gallons of antifreeze mix in and crank it. When I see antifreeze come out the exhaust I turn it off. Wipe down interior with spray nine and stuff dryer sheets in areas inside the boat. You could just add antifreeze to the block, take the belt off the raw water pump, crank it to blow out the exhaust and drain the strainer and take a shop vac to get the water out of the transmission cooler.

Thank you! It does have a shower I’m going to have to search about getting all these extra water lines drained and antifreezed.
