I broke my beloved boat! Oh, the agony.
I purchase the 2011 SAN 230 with the ZR409 engine in 2025. 540 hours.
Last week, I loaded it heavily with a very large crew, ballast and mission delta shaper, then commenced surfing. After about 20 hole shots and short surfing sets (It was an inexperience crew) the tone of the engine changed and I smelled something burning! I pulled the throttle to neutral and checked the oil pressure and engine temp. Both were normal. Idled into a cove and noticed some vibration on the way. Let the crew swim a while then headed back to the marina. Temp and oil pressure were normal but the vibration continued.
What do you suppose I burned up and what is causing the vibration?
So here I am, angry with myself for thinking I could load the boat that way, and disappointed because I take great pride in being careful about the boat and lake safety. Unfortunately, a lapse in judgment led to this situation.
