    ezDrive Thruster 2019 GS22

Looking for advice — strongly considering adding the ezDrive Thruster to my new‑to‑me 2019 GS22. My slip is in a river section and the spring current can get pretty sporty, so the extra control at low speed would be a big help. It would also make backing into the sandbar on busy weekends / windy days a lot less stressful.

Questions for anyone who has had one installed:

    1. How do you like it? Any feedback on performance, reliability, or “wish I knew this before installing” would be appreciated.

    2. Battery setup: ezDrive recommends adding a 3rd isolated Group 31 AGM dedicated to the thruster. I’m totally fine with that approach — it keeps the thruster isolated from the existing Group 24 Start/House batteries, avoids voltage sag, and makes any potential (hopefully none) troubleshooting cleaner down the road.

    3. Alternative battery idea: Before I commit to a 3rd battery, I’m wondering if anyone has swapped one of the factory Group 24s for a Group 31 instead. I’m not at the boat to measure, but I suspect height/length might be an issue in the stock battery trays. Curious if anyone has successfully fit a 31 in the OEM locations.

    4. Mounting location for the Group 31: If I do go with the dedicated thruster battery, where have you mounted it?
    • Observer seat compartment seems like the obvious spot, but I hate losing that storage space.
    • Rear port locker is another option, but I’m running the extra factory ballast bag back there - could fit it forward of the bag (I think)

Would love to hear what battery setups people are running and how the mounting locations have worked out long‑term.
