2018 G23 Portside Battery Low Warning

Hi all, new to the site here and hoping somebody has some experience with the issue I'm having. Recently I replaced both batteries on our boat due to seeing a low voltage warning on the portside (house) battery seeing as we had just purchased the boat 3 months ago and it had the original 8 year old batteries still in it. Having replaced them with bigger group 31 batteries I assumed all was well, fast forward to last Sunday and I get the same warning again of low voltage portside battery at 8.9V. Through running a bunch of tests (voltage resting through both batteries, running voltage and voltage across the acr terminals) I ended up replacing the acr itself and it still isn't combining to charge the portside once the voltage drops, 12.9 V was what I was seeing with the engine running for about 5 min. Is it entirely possible The ground sensing wire is responsible and if so can I just run it over to the ground bus under the helm? Or is it better to run straight to the battery negative. Thans!
