I think the interior side panels are called gun whale or coaming panels. Anyway, the studs that are installed in those panels. Does anyone know what they are? They are square looking at them from behind. i don't know what the other side looks like because it's under the upholstery. Im curious what they are and how they are secured in place?

I believe they are generally called Christmas tree fasteners. My panels have something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rexka-30pcs-D...85&sr=8-5&th=1

Mine are actual metal studs attached to the panel that goes through holes on teh side of the boat with fender washers and a nut on the back side. I think the plastic fasteners came later.

Traditionally, they are called "Gunwale". The word "gunwale" is pronounced gunnel (rhyming with funnel). So, the word "gunnel" is often accepted as an alternate spelling.
