      Frank Ferrante I'm not normally a parts replacement advocate, but you've done the diagnostics needed to justify coil replacement.

      If you're seeing 0ohms on the primary side of the coil then there is a direct short. That would also explain why the voltage is dropping from 12VDC to 9VDC when the wire is connected to the coil. Replace the coil if you haven't already and report back. Replacing the distributor will likely cause future issues as the replacements are not near the quality.
