    zz5 motor engine oil consumption

i just got my new 2026 nautique with a zz5 motor. reading the manual and it says it can use 1 quart of oil every 7 hours? does any one have any input on this. my last 3 nautiques had the zr4 motor that i loved. never used a drop of oil and never had one issue

I believe it says that for during the 25 hour break-in period. Or at least it use too. It's not suppose to burn that much oil after the break-in period. At least that's my understanding.

On that engine, if it's not broken in properly, it can have high oil consumption.

i am hoping someone that actually has the zz5 in their boat can give me some input on this : from the manual exactly----Pleasurecraft engine customers could experience engine oil consumption of approximately 1 quart every 7 hours of
operation. This can vary based on the operation and driving style of the boat. Due to bigger boats, more ballast weight
and various uses, it is very important that engine oil is checked prior to using the boat each time. In this case, the
engine oil should be changed every 30 hours of operation as stated in the Pleasurecraft Technical Information. Engine
oil may need to be added in between oil change intervals.
