I have a 1998 Ski Nautique with the GT40 engine. I'm running fine for about 20 minutes, then quits. If you then leave ignition on and let it sit, it will then run again. I've been through this before and it was the low pressure fuel pump. It fills the canister on the high pressure pump and holds a certain amount of fuel, I'd say 20 minutes worth.
I have removed the low pressure pump and it looks fairly good. There was a little junk on the screen inside the top, but not much. If I hook it up to 12V, it runs strong or at least appears to.
My next step was going to fuel pickup in the gas tank. I cannot get it out. Anyone have experience with this? I can loosen the anti siphon valve from the nut and pull the plastic tube almost completely out, but it then stops and will not come fully out. I've never seen the other end of this tube, so don't know what is holding it up.
Any ideas on how to get this out?
Next question is high pressure pump. Given what I've described, is the high pressure pump a potential culprit?
Thanks for any help,
Chris
