I have a 5.8L ford PCM. It has a carburetor and the Pro Tec injection by PCM. It also has coil packs (4 of them). The manufacturer ID is: PDLPRR12PTI. Would this mean I have the 5.8 HO, 5.8 HO Pro Tec or the standard 5.8L with coil packs? Thank You

First, that's not a carburetor. That's a Rochester Throttle Body Injection setup, referred to as Electronic Fuel Injection by PCM at the time.
Your engine is NOT an HO engine. HO engines would have had the GT-40 heads, and yours does not.
Your engine is a standard 351 non-HO with Pro-Tec (Pro-Tec just means it has the coil packs and the throttle body injection). The Pro-Tec systems are known to be extremely unreliable, and the older they get, the more fail. You'll notice the coil packs leaking, and that is a sign of imminent failure. You really need to swap all of that stuff out ASAP or you will be stranded on the water. There is a conversion kit that you can install to eliminate the Pro-Tec garbage if you're comfortable doing so yourself. If not, we convert these all the time at Silver Cove Marine. Let me know if we can be of service.

the projection conversion kit is no longer available from PCM, in fact PCM no longer supplies Holley 4160 carburetors for their dealers as Holley has discontinued the Holley 4160 marine. the small parts such as the supply tube or hose, fuel pump can be individually sourced through either nautique parts.com or skidim.com . we still carry the protect conversion kit on both nautique parts.com as well as skidim.com number part number RK107025A skidim and NP will be back on Jan 5th.

Hey teamseal, are you SURE about that Holley statement? Been meaning to ask David about this too. I am a Holley dealer, and I show that I can still order the 4160 marine carbs. In fact, I have them listed on my website as available:
https://www.silvercovemarine.com/cat...ne-carburetors
Holley also shows them as available directly on their site as well:
https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...arts/0-80319-3
I also have two freshly-rebuilt Holley 4160's ready to go if anyone needs them.
That said, I much prefer the Quick Fuel M-600 for numerous reasons. Please do not PM me directly asking for advice on how to repair your boat. The 4160 holley is producing is not the same as the "Original" marine version. the carb they offer is automotive with a side (banjo) style fitting as well side float level site and external adjust ability that they installed j tubes on. more than likely PCM Declined due to the increased potential for fuel leakage in an enclosed environment and did not want to take on the increased liability . i would not run one nor will i recommend that carb for and enclosed engine environment. bottom line is they are not the old marine designed carb.Originally posted by NautiqueJeff View PostHey teamseal, are you SURE about that Holley statement? if one goes to both DIM and NP you find carbs NLA. at this time we have decided to recommend rebuilding or have someone like all American carb or PGB marine that specializes in the 4160 to rebuild them. i think we looked at the quick fuel stuff also and again with the number of potential leak points we declined as well. it's a tough world out there and it's never the customers fault when catastrophe strikes.
