pcm zz5 355 motor failures

does anyone have any information on the zz5 355 hp motor failure? several used nautiques i have looked at for year 2025 have had engine replacements and no explanation from the dealers

The GM engines used (L84, L87) for the 5.3 liter and 6.2 engines have had engine recalls for different reasons in recent years, for the 5.3 its engine debris:

thank you do have an opinion on the zz5 with the 5.3 motor? is it better than the zr4? i have had zr4s in 3 boats and never any issues. not sure why they have lower hp in the zz5 and if it is big enough engine for the gs22?

As a waterskier I can’t attest to how the 5.3 engine performs in the wakeboard boats. I personally would go with the 6.2 liter (I have it in my SN200 and it’s a rocket ship!) or stay with the reliable ZR4 6.0 liter engine.
