2019 G25 NSS Surf Plate Cover

After pulling onto the trailer this past weekend, I noticed that my cover plate was missing on the starboard side of my NSS system.
The screws were intact with a small amount of the white from the cover plate still around the attachment screws.
I have a new cover ordered, but I am wondering if anyone may have a suggestion as to why this may have happened.
I do not want to install the new one, only to see it happen again.

Very unusual, I don't even know how that is possible. "We may never know".
No other evident damage, downpipe, bottom hull, NCRS Plate?
$218 plus shipping, not too horrible as things go, after the PN10 discount code.

I've see cracks around some of the screws on two of my previous boats, so I'm not shocked. Had them repaired under warranty, definitely never lost a full cover plate though!

flooringguy103 Actual I have send other posts on the lost of the plastic plate with the mounting screws intact. I agree it seems odd that this happen but it is more common than you think. Why I have no idea but hope someone would chime in on this issue. Not as common as failing ballast sensors but missing plastic plates do occur from time to time

It happens. Ride around your local marina and you're likely to spot at least one with a missing cover. Happened on my GS24 but they replaced it under warranty. I suspect the second any sort of crack or blemish starts letting water in, the cover is on borrowed time. That was 3 years ago and it hasn't happened to me since on my GS24 or the G23 I got to replace it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again one day. It's a piece of plastic that's cupped against the flow of water. Physics has to win out occasionally.

This is a picture showing the white plate that was left around the screws.
Should these screws be tightened occasionally, or will this interfere with the plate deployment if they are too tight.
